Armenia Participates In CE Religious Discussions

ARMENIA PARTICIPATES IN CE RELIGIOUS DISCUSSIONS

YEREVAN, April 10. /ARKA/. Armenian Apostolic Church participated
in the Council of Europe discussions on the state of religious
convictions attended by the three main European churches – catholic,
orthodox and protestant.

This was Armenia’s first participation with Archbishop Yeznik
Petrossyan representing Armenian Apostolic Church, RA Foreign Ministry
reports

"A due education and presentation of other religions in schools will
help reduce religion-based differences. School textbooks must not
contain any intolerance or negative attitude to other religions,"
the archbishop said in his speech.

The goal of this open and transparent discussion was to find ways
to consolidate the basic CE values by means of an inter-cultural and
inter-religious dialogue.

The event was attended by the representatives of the three main
European churches, international religious organizations, CE
member-countries, as well as mass media experts.
