ARMENIAN PRESIDENT DOES NOT SEE REASONS TO PROLONG THE STATE OF EMERGENCY AND IS PREPARING MITIGATION OF LIMITATIONS FOR MEDIA

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian President Robert Kocharian stated in
Yerevan today that he does not see any reasons to prolong the effect
of the state of emergency.

Mediamax reports that, talking with journalists today, the President
stated that in the whole period of the state of emergency effect no
cases of violation of the given order were registered, "the situation
in Yerevan is calm and fully controllable".

The decree on imposing a state of emergency in Yerevan up till March
20 was signed by the Armenian President on March 1.

Robert Kocharian informed that today or tomorrow he will sign a decree
on mitigating the limitations for the work of media, implemented in
connection with the state of emergency.

According to the President, the decree will clearly determine the
actions, which the media will have to refrain from, in particular,
from publication of deliberately false and provocative information.
