MOSCOW, March 3 (Xinhua) — Armenian President Robert Kocharian
congratulated Dmitry Medvedev Monday on his victory in Russia’s
presidential election, Russian news agencies reported.

"Armenia highly appreciates the partnership relations between the
two countries and their strategic cooperation in all directions,"
the Armenian leader said in a message.

Kocharian said he is confident that the peoples of the two
countries will strengthen "fraternal ties and partnership and expand
cooperation."

"I would like to mark with satisfaction your major personal
contribution to the development of Armenian-Russian relations, as
well as express confidence that in the office of Russian president
you will contribute to deepening and expanding them," Kocharian said.

Medvedev, 42, won Sunday’s vote with a landslide to become the
country’s youngest ever president-elect.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
