/PanARMENIAN.Net/ "Our movement is a serious ordeal not only for the
Armenian nation but also for the European states and structures,"
Armenia’s first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan said, wondering why
neither the U.S. nor EU or OSCE made any statement on the Armenian
developments.

He also voiced indignation over the conduct of international
observers. "What happened after the election is a shame. Armenia’s
democracy is in the hands of the U.S., European Union member states,
OSCE and other international structures. They have some 10 days to
take action in the name of a democratic and developing Armenia. All
they have to do is to declare the February 19 election invalid. If
Europe doesn’t react to our movement, it will betray not only the
Armenian people but also the principles and values of democracy and
freedom," the RA ex-President said.

When commenting on Russia’s stand, Ter-Petrosyan said that the
power has faced a dilemma. "Supporting the incumbent authorities,
Russia will lose support of the Armenian people, what is a serious
problem. This world power has experienced similar problems in Ukraine
and Georgia and I think it will take the right decision," he said.

Ter-Petrosyan claimed that under his rule Armenia came forward with two
major achievements – democracy and liberation of Karabakh, while the
Kocharian administration transformed Armenia into a "khan’s state",
where the President is the owner of everything and everybody. "Owing
to the incumbent authorities, the world lost interest in Armenia. The
only way out of the situation is to lift the blockade and resolve
the Karabakh conflict. Each state will have to take our opinion into
consideration when people to power and democracy is established.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
