Ziyafat Asgarov, Milli Majlis First Vice-Speaker said Azerbaijan gave
its consent to attending a conference of Azerbaijani and Armenian
parliamentarians, to be held by the mediation of international
organizations.

He said during the visit of Chairman of the PACE Subcommittee on
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict Lord Russell Jonston to Azerbaijan and
Armenia last week, one of the discussions was holding a conference
with participation of Azerbaijani and Armenian parliamentarians in
Strasbourg in April.

First-Vice Speaker noted, though we have participated in several
such events, but they gave no results so far, that is why Azerbaijan
wants to see tangible results of events, held by the mediation of
international organizations.

"As you know, PACE adopted 14/16 resolution on Nagorno-Karabakh in 2005
and the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia and proposals
regarding the conflict settlement were reflected in this document. The
PACE mentioned Subcommittee was established to control implementation
of the principles in the document," Ziyafat Asgarov said. He stressed
that official Baku wants the international organizations to seriously
regard the question and exert pressure upon Armenia.

Ziyafat Asgarov also added that Azerbaijan is against bilateral
cooperation with Armenia unless the conflict finds its solution.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
