YOUNG POLITICAL FIGURES CALL PEOPLE OF THEIR AGE TO GO TO ELECTIONS
CONSCIOUSLY
YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 8, NOYAN TAPAN. Arthur Baghdasarian, the Chairman of
the Orinats Yerkir (Country of Law) party, is a candidate nominated by
the demand of the time: he is young, experienced, educated and suggests
prospective progressive and single programs. Making this statement at
the press conference held on February 8, Armen Haroutiunian, the Head
of the Young Wing of the Orinats Yerkir Party, called to the young to
go to the elections consciously for their prosperous future. He
mentioned that many provisions of the pre-electoral program of Arthur
Baghdasarian have a tendency towards the settlement of the issues of
the young, in particular. The candidate offers to establish funds for
the purpose of complying with the expenses connected with the education
of students, who are not able to pay but have knowledge. By another
provision of the program it is envisaged to give young families
long-term hypothec credits with a low interest rate, during the redeem
of which discounts will be made in case a baby is born in the
beneficiary family.
And in the opinion of Vahe Sargsian, the Chairman of the ARF Nikol
Aghbalian Student Union, there is a lack of not prospective programs,
but of people to implement them. In this respect, according to him, the
young as realizers of programs should elect Vahan Hovhannisian, the
candidate of the ARF Dashnaktsutiun.
Vahe Sargsian also mentioned that the only opposition force in the
political field today is Levon Ter-Petrosian, a candidate running for
presidency, and the Armenian National Movement supporting him. However,
as Vahe Sargsian mentioned, the ARF Dashnaktsutiun as an alternative
political force cannot act in the same field with a political force,
which "does not want to become friends with Turkey and Azerbaijan," as
it is not clear what Levon Ter-Petrosian is going to yield for that.
The young political figures condemned the incidents that took place
during the campaign of Levon Ter-Petrosian. In their opinion,
authorities are responsible for that as they are to provide conditions
for a normal holding of the campaign of the candidates.
