Central Electoral Committee finishes registering candidates

CENTRAL ELECTORAL COMMITTEE FINISHES REGISTERING
CANDIDATES

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Armenia has
registered today all the nine candidates who shall be
running for the highest office of the Republic of
Armenia on February 19.

The candidates are Prime Minister Serge Sarkisian,
nominated by the Republican Party, Vazgen Manukian,
nominated by the "National Democratic Union (NDU)"
party, self-nominated Ex-President Levon
Ter-Petrosian, Artashes Geghamian, head of the
National Unity, Arthur Baghdasarian, head of the
Orinats Yerkir (Country of Law), deputy parliament
speaker Vahan Hovhanesian, nominated by the Armenian
Revolutionary Federation, Tigran Karapetian, head of
the People’s Party, Arman Melikian and Ara
Haroutiunian. The later is head of the National Accord
party.

According to the law, the official election campaign
kicks off on January 21 and is to be over on February
17, 12:00 PM.

The voting day is on February 19. Preliminary results
shall be announced on February 20 morning.
