On 11th of december,Stepanakert press-club organized press conference,
the aim of which was the representation of the work of Artsakh painter-
sculptor Robert Askaryan, who participated in international sculptors’
symposium held in Brazil.Symposium was held in Santa Catarina 1-30
november and Armenia was represented by the sculptor from Artsakh. By
his words, the council chose 20 from 245 exhibits, among which the
sketch of his sculpture "angel-protector" was. What prompted me to
visit Brazil?, -the sculptor asks himself.

It’s always interesting to show your national, to see the national
art of other peoples, to put the music of your soul in the stone. I
want the people know in this distant country, that Artsakh people
are creative people. I realize the participation of creative people
in such high-level meetings as the continuation of the struggle
for independence, as the additional step for recognition of Artsakh
independence by world community.R. Askaryan said with pleasure that
all 19 painters sculptors showed their "national dances", among which
"Angel-protector" had its worthy place.

Askaryan said that all the exhibits remain in the country, where
symposium was held. 120 exhibits are available already, if there will
be 500, they will be shown on the prepared place on the mountain and
it will be one of the best places of interest of the town, where the
stream of the tourists will never exhaust to.

R. Askaryan said with sorry, that symposiums within two armenian
republics could not become the good tradition, meanwhile, the
usefulness from them is worthless, especially if they are held on
international level and much money not needed for that.

The sculptor noticed that these meetings are useful, because the
opportunities are created for being sociable with the other sculptors
of the world, the contacts and also the plans for future, which are
important for any painter.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
