IN OPINION OF SARGIS ASATRIAN, THERE IS NO POLITICAL FORCE ENJOYING CONFIDENCE OF PEOPLE IN ARMENIA YET

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 12, NOYAN TAPAN. Armenia may develop and become a
regional center if a political force enjoying the confidence of the
people appears in the inter-political field in the forthcoming 4-5
years. This conviction was expressed by Sargis Asatrian, the Chairman
of Honour of the Youth Party of Armenia, at the press conference held
on December 12. According to him, the current forces, exceptionally the
ARF Dashnaktsutiun and the Armenian Communist Party, are more united
around persons for the purpose of organizing concrete local events.
Sargis Asatrian stated that he intends to create a similar political
force in the near future, the model of which he has already worked
out. According to him, that force may receive the absolute majority
of the votes of the people in the following parliamentary elections.
In the estimation of Sargis Asatrian, Armenia has all the preconditions
for becoming a regional political and cultural center. However,
according to him, that will be possible only after the settlement of
the Artsakh problem.
Sargis Asatrian is sure that the above-mentioned problem will be
settled in the near future in favour of the people of Artsakh.
Sargis Asatrian also attached importance to the development of
science. In this respect, the Chairman of Honour of the Youth Party
of Armenia will in the near future create "a financial base, which
will provide financial assistance especially to young scientists."
