ARMENIAN MUST BE COMPETITIVE TO WIN ON INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT MARKET

YEREVAN, October 24. /ARKA/. Armenia must be competitive on the global
scale to gain victory on the international investment market.

This statement was made at RA Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan’s meeting
with US Deputy Secretary of State Reuben Jeffrey in Washington.

The sides discussed issues of present and future Armenian-American
economic cooperation, particularly the activities of the
Armenian-American task group for economic cooperation and issues of
further improvement of the investment environment in Armenia.

Reuben Jeffrey pointed out the USA authorities’ satisfaction overt
the results of the US assistance and serious results in Armenia.

Premier Sargsyan pointed out tremendous work carried out in Armenia
to lay solid foundations for development over the last few years,
and the RA Government’s task is to speed up the development.

The sides were unanimous that Armenia must be competitive on the
global scale to gain victory on the international investment market.

Following the meeting, Sargsyan and Jeffrey participated in a meeting
of the Armenian-American task group for economic cooperation, where
they made welcoming speeches.

In his speech, Jeffrey pointed out the importance of economic stability
in Armenia and trends to rural poverty reduction.

He pointed out that the activities of the Armenian-American task
group for economic cooperation are becoming more and more important
and embrace more fields.

Premier Sargsyan pointed out that Armenia’s authorities attach
great importance to the development of the country’s rural areas
and poverty reduction and, without relying exclusively on foreign
states’ assistance, are making steps focusing their attention on
rural development.

RA Premier Serge Sargsyan was on an official visit to the USA on
October 17-23.
