"EURASIA" IMPLEMENTS PROJECTS CONTRIBUTING TO SOCIAL INVESTMENT

"Eurasia" Foundation has spend more than $350 million in 12 countries
since 1992, $30 million of which in Armenia," the new director of the
foundation’s Armenia representation, Gevorg Ter-Gabrielyan, announced
today during a meeting with reporters. The foundation’s activity mainly
relates to social and institutional reforms, he said. In his words,
the foundation is undergoing reforms at the moment, as a result of
which "Eurasia-cooperation" foundation will be formed since 2008,
which will be an independent Armenian organization, and which also
means that opportunities will be created to be more independent and
implement programs more adapted to the Armenian environment.

According to foundation official Marine Aivazyan, "Eurasia" foundation
has set for a research since 2006 which aims to unveil corporative
social investments made by mid sized and big businesses. In her words,
if the charities made by the companies are one-time events, do not
have a strategy and are made no more than 1% of the annual turnover,
social investments bring together the mission of the company, its
business plan, resources and those interests that the profitable both
for the community and for the business.

"The foundation plans to initiate an assessment of the Armenian
legislation in terms of social investment and to conduct a comparative
analysis with other countries. The study will also include suggestions
for improvement of laws contributing to social investment." she said.
