Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum Institute Hayk Demoyan does
not think that Iranian President Mahomoud Ahmadinejad’s refusal to
visit Tsitsernakaberd is connected with his personal stance on the
well-known historic events.

"I don’t think the refusal to visit the Armenian Genocide Memorial
was associated with Iranian President’s position on the Armenian
Genocide. It’s necessary to take into consideration that he is the
leader of an Islamic country and it’s a delicate issue," Hayk Demoyan
told ArmInfo.

Nevertheless, he reminded that there have been precedents of Iranian
high officials visiting Tsitsernakaberd like the ex-President of
the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammed Khatami. "That is why I see no
problem if Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also visited the Memorial," he said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
