THE CATHOLICOSATE OF CILICIA PARTICIPATES IN THE
WORLD PUBLIC FORUM ANNUAL SESSION IN GREECE

The 5th Jubilee Annual Session of the World Public Forum – "Dialogue of
Civilizations" was held on the Island of Rhodes, Greece from the 10th to the
14th of October 2007. The Catholicosate of Cilicia brought an active
contribution to the forum, the participants of which included the organizing
NGO’s permanent representatives, prominent politicians and government
officials, professionals and intellectuals. Archbishop Sebouh Sarkissian
(Primate of the Diocese of Tehran) and Mrs. Teni Piri-Simonian
(Vice-chairlady of the Catholicosate of Cilicia’s Ecumenical Committee)
represented the Catholicosate in this forum.

The Catholicosate’s delegates participated in two round tables with special
themes. Arcbishop Sebouh presented the topic "religion and dialogue of
civilizations", stressing the importance of prayer in personal and
collective life. Mrs. Piri-Simonian talked about the "the means created by
civilizations and the importance of education", underlining the importance
of education on public level for the sake of bringing about political,
social and economic harmony.

The first round table was dedicated to the Middle East and the second to
Asian cultures in the context of dialogue with other cultures.

During their stay in Rhodes, the representatives of the Catholicosate of
Cilicia met with the president of the World Public Forum, its deputy
presidents and the executive director. All spoke in great praise of
Catholicos Aram I’s involvement in international and ecumenical affairs and
extended an invitation to His Holiness to be the keynote speaker of the
organization’s next international conference.
