/PanARMENIAN.Net/ `Adoption of the H.Res.106 by the U.S. House
Committee on Foreign Relations will catalyze the process of
recognition of the Armenian Genocide throughout the globe. Many states
and parliaments were waiting for the U.S. to make the first move. So,
passage of H.Res.106 by House of Representatives will produce a domino
effect. We will see dozens of state follow the example of the United
States within next several years,’ said Hayk Demoyan, a historian and
director of the Armenian Genocide Institute-Museum.

Armenia’s neighbors can be among these states too, according to
him. `Presently, much depends on Turkey’s stance. The point is whether
it appears capable to muster its courage and give up the policy of
denial of its historic past,’ Demoyan said.

`Myths are bursting like bubbles in Turkey. This phenomenon is
dangerous for any country. If the whole world recognizes the 1915
events as Genocide, Turkey will find itself in awkward situation,
being the only denier of the truth,’ he said.

`Processes Turkey may face in next 10-15 years are pregnant with
serious consequences. Review of heritage and state ideology will be a
dangerous process. However, the current stance on the Armenian
Genocide issue drives this country into a corner. The future
generations of Turks will be in a way traumatized by domestic denial
of the Genocide meanwhile everyone beyond Turkish borders will speak
of annihilation of a whole nation,’ he said.

When commenting on Turkey’s aggressive policy towards Armenia, Mr
Demoyan said, `According to universally recognized scale, if one state
closes the border or imposes blockade on another state, it is rated as
the stage preceding declaration of war.’

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
