Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s nomination at the presidential election is
determined by Serge Sargsyan’s forthcoming official visits, Artashes
Geghamyan, the leader of the National Unity Party (AMK) said in reply
to A1+.

"The agitation regarding the first president’s nomination will
gradually fade away after the visits," Artashes Geghamyan said.

In case the AMK leader is not nominated, he will support the candidate
accepting his anti-crisis program, be it Serge Sargsyan or someone
else.

According to Geghamyan, RA political forces will encounter no obstacles
in case they follow the AMK’s advice.

Armenian political forces are to unite for the sake of the country’s
statehood. Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Vazgen Manukyan, Artashes Geghamyan,
Paruir Hairikyan, Serge Sargsyan, Robert Kocharian, Aram Karapetyan
and others should ally in view of a most concerning issue – the NKR
conflict resolution.

Geghamyan is confident that the NKR conflict will inevitably be
considered during the election. The authorities are to reach a
consensus in this context.

Regardless of the election outcome, Azerbaijan, Turkey and the Minsk
Group Co-Chairs must realise that the Armenian authorities should be
guided by the consensus provisions and should present the interest
of the Armenian people.

In response to the question whether the alliance of political forces
is ever probable, the AMK leader said, "Ter-Petrosyan’s meeting with
the ARF Dashnaktsutyun representatives testifies to this."

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
