Competition of 74 kg, 84 kg and 96 kg wrestlers started in Baku today.

Representatives from Armenia launched the tour successfully.

Arsen Julfalakyan (74 kg) defeated Aleh Mikhailovich of Germany with
a technical victory and will compete with Arsy of Finland in the
1/8 final.

Denis Forov (84 kg) of Armenia defeated Viyetsekh Kukla of Poland
and will compete with Riox of Canada in the next tour.

Arman Geghamyan (96 kg) has also started successfully and has overcome
the 1/8 final ban and will compete in the quarter-final.

Azeri journalists have been forbidden to interview Levon Julfalakyan,
the head coach of the Armenian team of Greek-Roman wrestlers
participating in the World Wrestling Championship underway in Baku.

Mr. Julfalakyan first agreed to speak to local journalists, but the
guards attached to the Armenian spots delegation prohibited the Azeri
journalists to approach the Armenian delegation.

Yesterday Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev awarded the President
of the International Wrestling Federation (FILA) Raphael Martinetti
with an "Order of Glory" and expressed confidence that the World
Championship in Baku would be organized on a proper level.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
