Trade between Russia and Armenia surged by 68 percent to $336.17m
in the first six months of 2007 compared to the same period a year
earlier, the press office of the Russian Transportation Ministry
reported today.

This figure was announced in Yerevan at the ninth meeting of the
intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. Russia’s
investment in Armenia’s economy went up by a factor of 3.5 to $32.6m
in the first quarter of 2007 compared to January-June 2006.

The two countries have agreed that the Russian IT and Communications
Ministry and Armenia’s Transportation and Communication Ministry
would sign an agreement on cooperation in the IT, mail service,
and telecommunication sectors.
