`Creative unions: Professional organizations of soviet composers,
1939-1953 years’ by Russian scientist Kiril Tomov tells about Gara
Garayev speaking of popular composers of Stalin’s period, APA
reports.

Gara Garayev is written to be an Armenian in that book. Famous
British Encyclopedia Britannica presented Gara Garayev as an Armenian
composer and gave his biography.
Baku Music Academy president, People’s Artist Farhad Badalbayli said
that all these were written by illiterate and inexpert people:’ It
shows how inexpert they are. Only inexpert person such people could
write such shame. We must react to it roughly’ he added.
Azerbaijan Composers’ Union chairman, people’s artist Firangiz
Alizade said that is all about to set an alarm during the composer’s
90th anniversary: `They have bee pursuing this policy for a long
time, and Russian encyclopedias write wrong things not only about
Gara Garayev but also Karabakh. We have to interfere with, and
interrupt it. There is amount of news about Gara Garayev. He was born
in Baku, got education here then left for Moscow and came back again.
He became a professor of Azerbaijan State Conservatorium and had
hundreds of students. So there is no doubt left about his
nationality,’ she added.
F.Alizade voiced importance to struggle against such cases:’ I have
written an article on Gara Garayev in Germany encyclopedia `Music
history of modern world’. This has already come out on the internet
and published. There is a site on Gara Garayev. There is all
information about G.Garayev in Azeri, English and Russian languages.
I think that both Culture and Tourism Ministry and composer’s son
Faraj Garayev should react’ she added./APA/

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
