YEREVAN, AUGUST 16, NOYAN TAPAN. In order to encourage the inflow
of investments to Armenia’s high-tech sector and promote the
introduction of new technologies, it is necessary to grant status
of a special economic zone to technoparks and to develop legislation
on technoparks, incubators and special economic zones, the director
general of Viasphere Technopark Aram Vardanian expressed an opinion
during a talk with NT correspondent.

"The matter concerns not only tax and customs privileges of the
indicated structures but also problems related to regulation of their
activities," A. Vardanian said. He added that Viasphere Technopark
is currently operating in the legislative field of commercial
organizations – in the status of a closed joint stock company, which
makes it necessary to build relations between the technopark and
the companies working in the technopark on a commercial basis. The
technopark provides services (including municipal ones), technical
assistance and advice to these enterprises, while provision of all
this based on commercial principles is inexpedient.
