Today the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the
Republic of Armenia, First Deputy Defense Minister, Colonel General
Seyran Ohanyan awarded certificates, medals and valuable presents to
the fifth shift of the Armenian peacekeepers, who have accomplished
their mission in Iraq.

"The worthy service of the Armenian peacekeepers enhances the prestige
of our state," Colonel General Seyran Ohanyan said. "We attach great
importance to today’s event, which once again proved that Armenian
peacekeepers managed to fulfill their task in a fitting manner,"
he said.

Officer Gevorg Nalbandyan, who was gravely injured in Iraq, was also
present at the ceremony, IA Regnum reports.

The fifth shift included 46 peacekeepers (staff officers, drivers,
field engineers and medical officers). The Armenian contingent is
performing its mission within a Polish battalion on the grounds of
the memorandum ratified by RA national Assembly on December 24, 2004.
