YEREVAN, AUGUST 6, NOYAN TAPAN. The Court of First Instance of the
Kentron and Nork_Marash communities of Yerevan, with judge Mnatsakan
Martirosian at the head, found Jirayr Sefilian, the coordinator of
the non-governmental civil initiative "In defence of the liberated
territories", guilty of carrying an illegal weapon and sentenced him to
one and a half year of imprisonment by the bill of indictment passed
on August 6. With this very judgement, Jirayr Sefilian was found not
guilty of the charge, according to which he had made calls to conquer
the state authorities by using violence.

Vardan Malkhsian, a member of the political board of the "Homeland
and Honor" party, was found guilty of making calls to conquer the
state authorities by using violence and was sentenced to two years
of imprisonment. Vahan Aroyan, a former freedom fighter, was found
guilty of keeping an illegal weapon and ammunition and was sentenced
to one and a half year of imprisonment.

The defensive side declared in its interview with journalists that
they will, no doubt, appeal against this bill of indictment in the
Court of Appeal on Criminal Cases.
