Armenians living in Lachin region occupied by Armenians leave this
area en masse, APA reports quoting Armenian newspaper Golos Armenii.

Over 5 000 people have left Lachin in the last 5 years. There are
only 8.5 thousand people in the centre of Lachin while the number
reached 13 500 in 2002-2003 years. Lack of infrastructure and some
other facts concerning providing population with energy make people
leave the area. Moreover, the policy pursued by separatist regime
in the Azerbaijani occupied territories was one of the reasons for
population to leave the area.

Lachin was occupied by Armenian Armed Forces on May 18, 1992. 47
000 people lived in Lachin before occupation 90% of which was
Azerbaijanis. After Lachin’s occupation Armenia overpopulated the
area.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
