Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and Albanian Foreign
Minister Lulzim Basha had a telephone talk on July 31 on the initiative
of the latter, Foreign Ministry’s press service told APA.

Albanian Foreign Minister assured his Azerbaijani counterpart that
Albanian government did not allow MEIKO Company selling weapons to
Armenia, the contract has been annulled and the weapons will not be
sent to Armenia.

Albanian minister said that Albania-Azerbaijan relations are very
important in all spheres.

Elmar Mammadyarov agreed with his Albanian counterpart.

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry sent a note to Albanian Foreign Ministry
protesting to illegal arms sales to Armenia. Elmar Mammadyarov said
that according to the UN resolution, no country can sell weapons to
the countries in conflict.

Turkish government had not allowed transporting weapons from Albania to
Armenia via Turkey and a ship carrying 60 containers loaded with heavy
artillery and weapons had to return. Director of MEIKO Company stated
that Albania has nothing to do with the conflict between Azerbaijan
and Armenia and is reviewing other routes for transporting weapons

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
