CFE WILL BE IN EFFECT FOR ANOTHER 150 DAYS

The acting head of the press and information department of the
foreign ministry Vladimir Karapetyan answered the question of the
ITAR-TASS Agency.
What are your thoughts on Russia’s decision to repeal the Treaty on
Conventional Forces in Europe?
Armenia perceives the Treaty on Conventional Forces in Europe as a
mechanism of transparency and balance in the European region which
has proved effective over the past 15 years. Since its creation the
treaty has successfully performed the role of a restricting factor
in the conventional arms race in the OSCE space.
The CFE will remain in effect for another 150 days and we expect
that the disagreement between the members will be overcome through
a dialogue. Armenia is ready to consult all the members of agreement
on this issue.
