/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Armenian National Football Team encouraged by
its recent victory over Kazakhstan (2:1) successively gained the
second victory by the efforts of Hamlet Mkhitaryan. This time Jan
Porterfield’s men took over the Polish Team players. The home team
played with the leaders of the group "A" of the selection round in an
impaired staff. At the same time 5 players from the main make-up had
to miss the last game because of various reasons. Goalkeeper Roman
Berezovski was also among those, who had caught a cold. Goalkeeper
Gevork Kasparov from Iranian "Pas" football team replaced him.

The guests, who had gained 6 successive victories in the selection
round, could not force the organized defense of the Armenian team. In
its turn our team scored the single goal on the 66th minute by the
efforts of Hamlet Mkhitaryan. After the comparatively calm beginning
the game activated close to the midst of the first half. Robert
Arzoumanyan struck a free kick after performing the corner, which
was a rather dangerous one and was near the crossbar. The polish
responded with a dangerous strike by Marek Saganowski.

Goalkeeper Gevork Kasparov reacted to that strike rather
successfully. Soon after that Kasparov struck back the kick by Jacek
Krzynowek from penalty area.

Then after Wojciech £obodziñski’s strike the ball jumped to Saganowski,
who could not shoot to the empty gates. During the second half the
guests continued to control the game with a small advantage. On the
57th minute £obodziñski could not realize a good goal chance. After
that football veteran Maciej ¯urawski replaced him. Suddenly Armenia
scored a goal on the 66th minute. Jacek B¹k broke the rules against
Aram Hakobian 20 meters away from the Polish gates, and with a
penalty kick Hamlet Mkhitaryan made goalkeeper of Scotch "Celtic"
Artur Boruc capitulate. During the remaining time the guests made
all efforts to equal the score. Kasparov struck back dangerous kicks
of Jakub B³aszczykowski and ¯urawski. But during the additional time
Arman Karamyan, who replaced one of his playmates, had all chances
to make the victory of the Armenian National Team larger.

Thus, winning over the Polish, the Armenian National Team rose to the
6th place, sharing it with the Belgium National Team in the group,
which runs on the 5th place, also having 7 points but with one played
game more. On August 22 the Armenian National Team will host another
leader in the group "A" -the Portuguese National Team.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
