The Armenian Nuclear Power Plant somewhat reduced the volumes of
electric power generation in May, 2007, Director general of ANPP
Gagik Markosyan told ArmInfo. He said that reduction happened
because of vast changes of the weather conditions that caused
dispatcher limitations. As a result, the plant missed 55 mln kWh
of electric power though it is working in a previous mode but with
one turbogenerator standby. In whole, the volumes of electric power
generated by NPP were overfulfilled within 3 months, 2007. The year
2005 was record for NPP when over 2.7 bln kWh of electricity were
generated. The volumes in 2006 somewhat reduced because of dispatcher
limitations. Nevertheless, G. Markosyan said, the plant is ready to
"carry the load", which was higher in 2006 than in 2005.

To recall, the ANPP increased the electric power generation in the 1Q,
2007, by 7,05% to 810,5 mln kWh against 757,1 mln kWh for the 1Q,
2006. The electric power supply to Armenia’s power system over the
reporting period grew by 7,1% to 749,2 mln kWh against 699,5 mln kWh in
the 1Q, 2006. Increase of electricity generation volumes is explained
by the fact that there were no dispatcher power limitations at ANPP
in the 1Q, 2007, as compared with 2006. The dispatcher limitations
in the republic are introduced for economic purposes for more use of
cheaper. According to the preliminary data, the ANPP will be shut down
for planned preventive maintenance and refueling on October 1, 2007.

To recall, in 2003 the ANPP was committed to trust of the "Inter RAO
UES" CJSC for 5 years. Two power units WWER-440 with total capacity
of 815 MW are installed at the Armenian NPP.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
