UKRAINE WON OVER ARMENIA

Olympiad-2006 winner Ukraine beat Armenian 3:1 in the first tour of
the Women’s World Chess Championship held in Yekaterinburg. Armenian
chess players Elina Danielyan and Siranush Andreasyan got 0,5 points
each. Lilit Lazarian and Nelly Aghinyan came off second-best.

Russia, Georgia and China also enjoyed victories.

Georgia beat the Czech Republic 2.5:1.5. Maya Chiburdanidze stood out
among the Georgian players.

China beat Vietnam 3.5:0.5 and Russia beat Germany 3:1. The most
striking was Poland-Botswana meeting during which Poland beat its
opponent 4:0
