Armenian President stated that `absolute liberties were secured for
all the participants of the campaign’

Yerevan, May 11. /Mediamax/. Armenian President Robert Kocharian
stated that `absolute liberties were secured for all the participants
of the pre-election campaign, neither of the parties faced any
obstacles on the way’.

Mediamax reports that the President said this late May 10 in an
interview to the Public TV of Armenia, the `Second Armenian
TV-Channel’ and the `Armenia’ TV-Channel.

`All the political forces had the opportunity to make their words
heard by the people. It is another issue that the parties used the
existing opportunities in different ways. It had to do with the human
potential, to some degree the financial issues, as well as with the
absence of fresh ideas’, Robert Kocharian stated.

Armenian President stressed that if in the pre-election period much
depended on the political will of the authorities, on the very
elections day `a great responsibility lies upon the political
parties, the participants of the election process’.

`The responsibility lies upon the parties, which participate in the
formation of electoral commissions, as well as on all the forces,
taking part in the elections, as they have proxies. It is interesting
that today, the forces, which participate in the formation of
electoral commissions, are the ones to talk more about
falsifications. Who can falsify the elections without your
participation?’, Robert Kocharian stated.–0–

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
