KOUNDAKDJIAN’S LENS REVEALS THE HIDDEN CORNERS OF HISTORY

His Holiness Aram I visited Haigazian University on May 8 after having
praised the photo exhibition held there the day before. The Pontiff was
received by the President of Haigazian University, Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian
and professional photographer Harry Koundakdjian. V. Rev. Fr. Krikor
Chiftjian and Rev. Fr. Mesrob Sarkissian accompanied His Holiness.

On the occasion of Martyrs’ day on May 6, Harry Koundakdjian made
available to the Lebanese public a sample of the numerous pictures he has
taken over the course of fifty years. The exhibition, a collection of about
50 photos from the camera of this well-known photographer, captured those
moments and aspects of reality usually invisible to the naked eye. They
portrayed international events and faces from over 20 countries depicted in
a changing atmosphere of fear, confusion, death, mourning, happiness and
richness.

His Holiness highly praised the University for having organized the
exhibition specially in the current situation in Lebanon. He also praised
the photographer, who as a true son of the Catholicosate of Cilicia,
provided a large section in his exhibition to pictures revealing hidden
moments in the Holy See’s history.

Koundakdjian reaffirmed his commitment to become a speaker on behalf of
the Armenian Church, the Catholicosate of Cilicia and the Armenian people
through his lens.

The Pontiff had awarded the "Saint Mesrob Meshdots" medal to Koundakdjian
during a special event organized last year in the course of his official
visit to the Eastern Diocese of the United States.
