ARMENIA PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS TO MEET INT’L STANDARDS-PRESIDENT

Armenian President Robert Kocharyan told ambassadors of OSCE
countries that the government was determined to hold the forthcoming
parliamentary elections in accordance with international criteria.

The conversation was about the elections, which are set for May 12,
and electoralÅprocesses, the presidential press service told ITAR-TASS.

Kocharyan said that the election campaign was g5ing calmly.

"The role of authorities and eain political furces participating in
the elections is important in it," he said.

Ambassadors stated that the forthcoming elections were a decisive
stage down the road of Armenia’s democratic development.

In their opinion, the country has shown a substantial progress in free
and fair elections and this found a reflection in reports of observers.

Possibilities have been provided for all candidates meet voters and
expound their programmes, the diplomats said.
