/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The United States Congress has recognized the
Armenian Genocide long ago, the H. Res. 106 only confirms this
historical fact and calls on President Bush to use this term in
his annual April 24 address," "Hay Dat" office head Giro Manoyan
stated to a press conference in Yerevan. He said, already 191 House
representatives and also 38 senators expressed their support for the
Resolution. "218 votes are necessary for adoption of the Resolution
in the U.S.

House of Representatives and 51 – in Senate. I think that necessary
number will be gathered to the moment of voting," Manoyan noted. He
also reminded the U.S.

Congress has recognized the Armenian Genocide still in 1973 and
starting from 1994 president of the country sends addresses on
this occasion. But those addresses always say "tragic events of
1915". Manoyan underlined the main purpose of the Resolution is to
urge the U.S.

president to use the term "genocide" like in other similar cases,
say when he speaks about genocides in Rwanda and Darfur.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
