YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 8, NOYAN TAPAN. Adoption of the law on dual
citizenship may not essentially influence on the parliamentary
elections to take place on May 12 and even on the 2008 president’s
elections as dual citizens will not make a great number till that. RA
Prime Minister Andranik Margarian expressed such an opinion during
the February 7 briefing. He also mentioned that it is clearly written
in the amended Constitution that the problem of dual citizenship
must be regulated by the law, and if such a law is not adopted,
the government will be this time as well accused of violating the
constitutional norms.

Responding the question if he has fear that dual citizens will decide
the fate of Armenia in future, the Prime Minister answered that at
present our compatriots from abroad also have possibility to seriously
influence on the country economy. "If we thought in this way, we
would pull down the iron curtain and not allow our compatrioits to
act in Armenia," A.Margarian mentioned.
