Arman Babajanyan Has Turned to Court of Cassation

ARMAN BABAJANYAN HAS TURNED TO COURT OF CASSATION

Editor-in-chief of newspaper `Zhamanak Yerevan’ Arman
Babajanyan could be the 2058th citizen of Armenia the
trial of which would be ceased after making
corresponding payment.

According to the press secretary of the RA Public
Prosecutor, By December 30, 2006, the RA Law on
«People who have not served in the army violating the
law» has been applied for 2057 people. Arman
Babajanyan had applied to the interdepartmental
committee last October asking to apply this law in his
case too. He was accused to avoiding military service
my means of document fabrication. Arman Babajanyan has
not received an answer from the interdepartmental
committee.

On January 22 his advocates turned to the Court of
Cassation. Tomorrow they will learn whether a case has
been initiated or no. On January 12 RA Court of Appeal
on Criminal Affairs sentenced Arman Babajanyan to 3.5
years imprisonment.
