REPRESENTATIVE OF AZERBAIJAN IN UN REFUSES TO CALL SPECIFIC TERMS OF DISCUSSION OF FROZEN CONFLICTS ISSUE AT GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Yerevan, January 10. ArmInfo. The issue on frozen conflicts in the
territory of GUAM participant-countries will be discussed at the
UN General Assembly only in case of certainty that there are all
the necessary conditions to achieve the result Azerbaijan needs,
a permanent representative of Azerbaijan in UN, Agshin Mekhtiyev,
said in an interview to "Trend".

According to him, the relevant draft resolution will be shortly
spread in the UN, after which active consultations for its agreement
will start. "We (GUAM countries) will resolve on when to put this
issue for discussion depending on how the events develop. However,
irrespective of anything, the issue remains in the agenda of the UN
General Assembly", A. Mekhtiyev said.

Meanwhile, according to the information of Azeri emissary to the
UN, the Armenians try to actuate all the opportunities they have ,
including the Diaspora s to influence the coming discussions. "The
local Armenian organizations try to affect everybody who may be
somehow or other useful for them in this issue", Mekhtiyev concluded.
