PRODUCTION OF CHEMICAL INDUSTRY DECLINES BY 18.3% IN ARMENIA IN JANUARY-NOVEMBER 2006 ON SAME MONTHS OF 2005

YEREVAN, JANUARY 8, NOYAN TAPAN. In the period of Janaury-November
2006, the production of Armenia’s chemical industry made 12 bln
763.9 mln drams (about 30.3 mln USD), or by 18.3% less than in the
respective period of 2005.

According to the RA National Statistical Service, rubber and plastic
products of 3 bln 357.1 mln drams were manufactured in the period under
review, or by 10.5% more than in the same months of the previous year.

Out of the main products of chemical industry, the production of
synthetic corundum increased 4.9fold, of lacquers and paints –
by 36.6%, of plastic products – by 14.7%, of detergents – by 9.7%,
whereas the production of synhetic rubber and caustic soda declined
by 39.7% and 48.8% respectively.
