IN MANUK GASPARIAN’S WORDS, ZHIRAYR SEFILIAN DOES NOT PRESENT DANGER

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 15, NOYAN TAPAN. The reason for the arrest of
Zhirayr Sefilian, the former commander of the "Shoushi" special
battalion, the coordinator of the "Defence of Liberated Territories"
public initiative is not the public calls addressed to changing
forcibly the RA Constitution, as the authorities present. RA National
Assembly Deputy Manuk Gasparian expressed this viewpoint at the
December 15 press conference. In his words, the real reason is either
Zh.Sefilian’s intolerant posture concerning the liberated territories
or the active public-political activity promoted by him in
Akhalkalak. Besides, M.Gasparian finds that by calls on forcibly
throwing down the authorities, Zh. Sefilian could not carry out a
revolution in the country and from this point of view he does not
present a danger for the acting system. In the NA Deputy’s opinion,
the arrest is the continuation of the ignoring-persecutive policy
being implemented towards Zh.Sefilian. M.Gasparian reminded that
Zh.Sefilian addressed to corresponding structures many times to get
citizenship of Armenia, even Manuk Gasparian himself addressed to the
RA President with that request, but they did not reach any result.
