VARTAN OSKANIAN UNAWARE OF AIM OF FUSS ABOUT
DEMARCATION OF ARMENIAN-GEORGIAN BORDER

RA Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian said Wednesday at
the Armenian Parliament that he isn’t aware of the
fuss about the demarcation of the Armenian-Georgian
border.

He stated that the map of the Armenian-Georgian border
published in 1939 is taken as a ground. He said there
are some areas where either the Armenian or the
Georgian parties "have crossed" the borders and the
delimitation is necessary to avoid territorial losses.
The negotiating sides have quite a positive view of
the process despite the current difficulties. The
ultimate statement rests upon the Parliament here. Mr.
Oskanian said that anything that may infringe the
national interests of Armenia in this process is
excluded. He added that the sides had agreed
everything at the negotiations.

As for the Armenian citizens who have been persecuted
by the Georgian authorities for crossing the
Georgian-Abkhazian border, the minister said this
problem is being gradually settled. A month ago, the
number of arrested RA citizens amounted to 30 people,
now it has reduced to 3. Negotiations are still under
way and these 3 persons will also be soon released, he
said. He believes the problem is that Georgia resolved
to apply a law that has not been applied for a long
time. Hence, these arrested RA citizens were likely to
have no idea of this law on the Abkhazian border.

Lashing Out at France Again

AZG Armenian Daily #205, 27/10/2006

Turkey

LASHING OUT AT FRANCE AGAIN

A few days ago a new heading in French appeared at the
official website of Istanbul’s tourism department that
protests against the October 12 decision of France’s
National Assembly. The text full of errors announces
that "Turkey has never committed a genocide throughout
its history… the French does not have clear idea of
our European continent… and Turkey came into existence
in 1923 therefore there were neither Turks nor a
Turkish army in 1915." Such statements require no
comments.

This information was sent to the daily by Jean Eskiyan
from France. Mr. Eskiyan added that more than 900
French websites, including those of municipalities,
universities, major organizations and French-Armenian
communities, were attacked by Turkish hackers after
the October 12.

As of October 23, these websites were not restored.
The Turkish hackers got special training in 2003 and
are united under RSF (Rooting Sabotage Forced)
abbreviation.

Specialists in Crime Claim Most Probable Cause of A320 Crash

SPECIALISTS IN CRIME DETECTION CLAIM MOST PROBABLE CAUSE OF A320’S
CRASH WAS INTERFERENCE OF BRUTE FORCE

The New Times Party gathered yesterday representatives of all other
anti-crime parties and unions for a social discussion. Though there is
no official theory of the May 3 crash of Armenian A320 airline and the
investigation is still in process, the specialist in crime detection
are trying to incline the society to the last crash theory that is
widely circulating in the media these days. This theory claims that
the cause of the surprising crash was interference of brute force and
activities of a criminal group inside the plane. This allegation was
presented by Vladimir Poghosian, former pilot of naval aviation. In
his opinion, there was a scuffle at the VIP lounge of Zvartnots
Airport prior to the flight. But it remained within the airport
walls. The Flight Security service was unaware of the scuffle. The
Passengers’ luggage was not properly checked either. The clash did not
vapor aboard the plane. The situation on the plane prevented the
pilots to take sound decisions, and the plane ran out of
control. Besides, the pilots disregarded warnings of bad weather
conditions in Sochi airport.

In Aram Karapetian’s words, the Russian mass media confirms the theory
of brute force interference. The Russian media reports that before
plunging into the Black Sea a few passengers called their friends and
relatives saying that there was a fight even shooting on the plane.

Arshak Nalbandian, head of the Flight security Service of Armavia Air
Carrier, completely rejected this theory saying that the crew was in
normal working state. A flight attendant was gaily speaking and
laughing with the pilots a few minutes prior to the crash. Therefore
he rules out that there was a skirmish on the plane. He said that he
had not signed the preliminary conclusion of the International
Aviation Committee that places the blame on the crew.

The specialists in crime detection suggested setting an independent
commission of experts that will carry out its own investigation.
Vladimir Poghosian reminded that the opposition’s such proposal was
turned down as the National Assembly had an order from above. Thus,
there is someone who will be in disadvantage once the commission is
created. He also stated that he has facts proving his theory but will
make them public only after a commission is set. Arshak Nalbandian
added that Armavia is for creation of such a commission.
