Hrach Silvanian, Armenian Ambassador to Georgia, met with Levan
Varshalomidze, Ajarian Prime Minister in Ajaria during his visit
to Batumi.

The Prime Minister informed the Armenian Ambassador that the Ajarian
Autonomous Republic has welcomed 35 thousand Armenian tourists and
they expect that the number of Armenian tourists will still increase
and reach 45 thousand at the end of September. The two parties find
that there is an urgent need to found a consulate in Batumi taking
into consideration the abundant flow of Armenians to Ajaria.

Levan Varshalomidze attached great importance to the involvement of
the Armenian businessmen into Ajarian interior market taking into
account their great experience in agricultural sphere. The two parties
focused on the necessity to enhance bilateral cooperation via working
out mutually beneficial new methods.

The Prime Minister also referred to the problems of the Armenian
church enclosure and restoration of the adjacent territories. Levan
Varshalomidze noted that the Mayor of Batumi will be assigned with
a concrete task on this score.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
