painting exhibition on Saturday, May 14 , 2005 in the Arthur Matossian
Gallery of the Mugar Building.

many ambassadors, and cultural attaches were present from various
embassies, in addition to prominent Lebanese artists.

also the 25th anniversary of the Arthur Matossian Art Gallery, and about
the artist, he said, `Andre Kalfayan has a unique appreciation for Lebanese
heritage, he is endowed with overflowing talent, and therefore, he is our

blessings we enjoy, especially the unique talent of Kalfayan.

artist. He explained the unique technique and style of Kalfayan which
differentiates him from other artists. Zogheib also talked about the
Armenian people and heritage, emphasizing that Armenians in Lebanon played
an active and positive role in the Lebanese culture and economy.

presenting this opportunity to him, and expressed his pride and gratitude
for having taken part in the University’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.
Finally, he surprised everyone by presenting a painting of the Mugar
façade, as a gift to the University
Andre Kalfayan offered a workshop on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 in the
Mugar Garden, where a lot of students were introduced to his technique, as
he worked on a new painting .
Kalfayan is inspired by the old Lebanese architecture. His work is
focused on everything which is neglected by nature, specifically the old
houses with their doors and shutters.
Through his paintings, Kalfayan engages himself in protecting these
vanishing beauties which soon will be replaced by cement.
