NEW TECHNOLOGIES FOR STUDENTS

Recently, “Intel Exhibition of Computer Knowledge” was held at the Yerevan
State Polytechnic University. The exhibition was organized by “Unicomp”
company and the University. In the course of the exhibition the students had
the opportunity to see the newer technologies of Intel Centrino and to
participate in the lectures delivered by the Russian representatives of
Intel. Renat Minajinov, the head of the lectures, highly evaluated the
awareness of the university’s students in the sphere of the new
technologies. He said that the exhibition will arouse the interest of the
students for the technologies.

Armen Baldrian, director of “Unicomp,” believes that Intel Centrino
technology that allows to provide wireless Internet will be widely spread in
Armenia very soon. He said that in a year the capital will be almost covered
with wireless network. “As this new technology doesn’t require big
investments, very many newly established Internet services begin working
within this system,” Armen Baldrian said.

The organizers said that about 4000-4500 students participated in the
lectures. By the end of the lectures one of the students won a notebook by a
lottery. The second notebook was given to the university by the organizers.
Ruben Aghgashian, deputy rector of the University, expressed the hope that
their cooperation with “Intel” and “Unicomp” will continue and one day their
university will be equipped with the newest computer technologies.
