Acting Kyrgyzstan President’s suggestion to Putin concerning
settlement of debts

ASTANA. May 9. KAZINFORM – Acting President of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek
Bakiyev and the Russian President V. Putin had a meeting to discuss
issues concerning bilateral cooperation.
During the talk K. Bakiyev suggested V. Putin preparing a list of
enterprises to be given to Russia for Kyrgyzstan’s debts repayment.
According to V. Putin the same scheme has been used when regulating
the same problem with Armenia. The Russian President emphasized
necessity to activate work of interstate commission.

K. Bakiyev expressed his gratitude being invited to the V-Day
anniversary celebrations.
It is noteworthy to remind of the debt of Kyrgyzstan equal to USD 170
mln. Before some enterprises had been given to Russia as they were
included into the military and industrial complex of the USSR.
Ex-Premier of Kyrgyzstan Nikolai Tanayev had proposed the Russian
side to write off the debt as it did to other countries.
