The newly-established National League public initiative is planning to
supervise the observance of independence in Armenia.

During a press conference at the House of Journalists today, pundit
Stepan Safaryan said that the league’s founding congress was held a
month ago and that the league issued its constituent declaration
today.

Safaryan said that the founders of the league are 12 representatives
from different political parties and public organizations of the
republic. A special commission of five people has been set up and its
duty is to supervise and react to the authorities’ actions that
violate the principles of Armenia’s independence proclaimed in 1991.

The league is planning to react using all the methods permitted by the
constitution, i.e. press conferences, rallies, media articles and
processions.

The first bargains harming Armenia’s independence, which the league
will consider, are deals on ArmenTel and on the sale of Armenia’s
power grids, Safaryan said.
