Verelq: Armen Nikoghosyan has resigned from the post of FFA vice president

Armen Nikoghosyan, vice-president and member of the executive committee of the Football Federation of Armenia, made an official statement, which stated:

“Dear football community,
At the FFA meeting held at the end of last year, I announced that I will not run for the 2026 executive committee elections and will end my activities as the vice president of the FFA. During this time, however, events occurred that made some adjustments to my decision.

First, the national futsal team of Armenia participated in the group stage of the European Championship, which was an unprecedented result for Armenian sports. The pride that our country is finally in the same line with the European leaders, as well as the excitement and emotions I experienced in those days, I wish to all sports fans.

Then an even more important and incredible event happened. our country jointly with Georgia received the right to organize the second largest tournament in the world, the 2029 World U-20 Final Championship. By and large, I never dreamed that during my term of office I would have direct participation in such events, which seemed unattainable in the recent past. But now this is a reality, we have to go after new goals, and I will participate in the preparations for the organization of this tournament. Therefore, I announce my resignation from the position of the FFA vice-president and the member of the executive committee.

I thank my colleagues for their joint work. While recording that there have been both successes and failures, I apologize to everyone. In many cases, I have not reconciled with the decisions made, but I have always been guided by the interest of Armenian football, considering the exclusion of patronage and corruption as a priority. I can state that the current leadership of the FFA has managed to completely eradicate these phenomena, and this is already an irreversible reality. I am sure that in the near future we will also see the rise of the national team, for which all the necessary conditions have been created.

I wish our country strong and unshakable peace, and new victories for Armenian sports and football.

With love, Armen Nikoghosyan.”

Aliyev Again Accuses Armenia of Occupying Azerbaijan

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan addresses the Islamic Development Bank Group on Jun. 18

As Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan continues to hail “peace” with Azerbaijan, that country’s president, Ilham Aliyev, continues to attack Armenia in his public remarks and during appearances.

The latest such attack came on Thursday when he told the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group that “Azerbaijani territories have been under occupation for 30 years, and meaningless negotiations have been held during that time.”

He, once again, targeted the now-defunct OSCE Minks Group, saying “their only goal was to maintain Armenia’s occupation of Azerbaijani territories.”

“The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs—France, Russia, and the United States, which are permanent members of the UN Security Council and had a mandate to achieve peace and liberate our territories from occupation, were unable to force Armenia to leave the Azerbaijani territories,” Aliyev said.

“At the beginning of the negotiation process, we had high hopes. We were trying to resolve the issue peacefully, trying to explain to the great powers that the truth is on our side, because our territories were occupied. In response, they were telling us ‘go and negotiate.’ This was only one of the messages. The second was that there is no other solution. The third was that ‘you cannot start a war,’ and the fourth was that ‘if you start a war, sanctions will be applied against you,’” he added.

Aliyev once again baselessly accused Armenia of committing crimes.

“Today, there is a lot of talk about sanctions. When these or those events take place in different parts of the world, sanctions immediately come into force. Meanwhile, during the occupation of Azerbaijani territories, such steps were not taken against Armenia. This is a vivid example of double standards and a serious contradiction between declared values and real policy,” Aliyev said.

In addition, he stated that Azerbaijan allegedly offered peace to Armenia, despite the fact that it “suffered from occupation and destruction.”

“Azerbaijan and Armenia have been living in peace for a year now and see its advantages. We will never forget what the Armenian occupation forces did to our people and cities,” the Azerbaijani president added.

Meanwhile, in Nakhichevan where a festival of so-called “Western Azerbaijanis” kicked off on Thursday, a leader of that fictitious community, Aziz Alakbarli, said that Armenia must create conditions for the safe return his people.

The concept of “Western Azerbaijan” has been propagated by Aliyev, who claims that the majority of modern-day Armenia is historic Azerbaijani territory and is insisting that these so-called “Western Azerbaijanis” resettle in Armenia.

Alakbarli noted that Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan “has also witnessed the tragedies suffered by Western Azerbaijanis,” and in this context, holding such events here has a special significance.

He stated that “the return of Western Azerbaijanis to their native lands corresponds to fundamental human rights and international law.”

The chairman of the council of the “Western Azerbaijan community” added that “Armenia must accept this reality and create conditions for the safe, dignified, and peaceful return of Western Azerbaijanis.”

Asbarez: Turkey and Azerbaijan Want to Wipe Armenia ‘Off the Map,’ European La

Member of European Parliament Geadis Geadi

Geadis Geadi, a European Parliament Member from Cyprus, warned Armenia that there will be grave consequences as it seeks to normalize relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan.

“I visit Armenia regularly, and I see that today there is a prevailing desire for an absolutely neutral policy and for developing cooperation with Turkey and Azerbaijan, without understanding that these countries want to wipe Armenia off the map and completely redraw the map of the world. Since we too have been victims of Turkish policy, we can understand where such processes might lead in the future,” Geadi said in a conversation with Alpha News.

Throughout the renewed efforts by Turkey and Armenia to normalize relations without preconditions, official Ankara has been steadfast in its insistence that any final agreement hinges on the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Turkish government officials have gone on record to emphasize that the normalization process with Armenia is closely being coordinated with Baku.

“I think this is an illusion of peace, because Turkey is a country with long-term geopolitical views. Knowing its history, I have seen what its views are on Armenia, the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean as a whole. And they want to wipe off the map all the countries that have caused them problems,” the European lawmaker said when asked about Baku’s promotion of “peace.”

“So, from my point of view, I disagree with and do not accept Armenia’s new geopolitical vision. And I think this will lead to a lot of problems, I consider it dangerous. Pashinyan has tried to push Europe toward a certain position. He has said that if he isn’t accepted as an ally of Turkey, then it’s necessary to ‘draw Turkey into Europe.’ By his logic, Armenia must move through Turkey to get a path into the EU. So the only route is through Turkey,” he explained.

“On the other hand, there is the Russian path of development. In other words, in my view, he is promoting an anti-Russian version of this geopolitical line. If we’re talking about Armenia possibly being admitted to the European Union, it could be admitted to the EU without Turkey as well,” Geadi added.

“Membership in Europe doesn’t mean a country necessarily has to have a land connection to it. For example, Cyprus has no such connection, yet it’s an EU member. So the claim that a territorial ‘link’ is required is not a necessary condition. At the same time, we’re also talking about Turkey, which, in my view, cannot be admitted to the EU, since it is a country that does not respect international law, human rights, or the norms of maritime law,” he explained.

Speaking about the elections in Armenia and the fact that Europe turned a blind eye to violations in the Armenian elections, based on the logic of supporting a geopolitical line of confrontation with Russia in the region that is advantageous to itself, Geadi said that, as a whole, there is a positive view of Armenia within the European Parliament.

“Some don’t share this optimism, but most members of the European Parliament still tend to view Armenia rather positively, and they feel that some issues or changes need to be addressed in Armenia’s electoral procedures. But I want to share what I know from my visit to Armenia,” he explained.

“I spoke with Pashinyan, I spoke with the president, I spoke with members of parliament, and I saw that there seem to be two different voices within Armenian society. One part of the Armenian people supports Pashinyan and wants to leave everything that happened with Turkey and Azerbaijan in the past, effectively trying to forget their own history,” the European lawmaker said.

“And there is another part of the Armenian people that never forgets. They are fighting for justice, for their country, their nation and their historical memory. And they make no compromises with countries that, in their view, are enemies of Armenia, especially since, in their view, these countries are not democratic,” he added.

“This is exactly what I talked about at my last plenary session in Strasbourg, when I raised the issue of Armenia. I noted that I saw, as it were, two different voices, two different communities, two different approaches and two different ways of thinking within Armenian society. I have spoken with many people in Armenia itself, outside it, in Brussels, in Strasbourg, and in Cyprus, where there is a sizable Armenian community. And I came to the conclusion that there really are two different views of the situation,” Geadi explained, referring to a presentation he made at the European Parliament.

“But I support those people who are fighting for their justice, who are fighting for their history. And I disagree with Pashinyan’s new political outlook,” he emphasized.

“I said this in his office as well, when we had a meeting. I expressed my opinion, he disagreed, but I can say everything I believe,” Geadi said, referencing a recent meeting he had with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“And since I come from a country like Cyprus, I fully understand this pain, I fully understand that we must defend the law, we must defend justice. And my message to the Armenian people is: keep fighting, keep fighting for justice. Never forget your history,” he explained.

“I want to draw the Armenian people’s attention to the fact that they must never forget the Armenian Genocide. I should say that when we had an official European Parliament session at Armenia’s National Assembly, I introduced an amendment concerning recognition of the Armenian Genocide. And indeed, some members of the Armenian parliament voted against it, that’s a real fact. They were representatives of Pashinyan’s party,” the European lawmaker emphasized.

168: Pashinyan shares Armenia

June: 18, 2026

The opposition does not recognize the results of the June 7 elections, some of the forces are going to appeal them in the Constitutional Court. With this, the relative normality of Armenia’s post-election reality ends and the degradation of the government begins, which, as a consequence, led to the degradation of the state as well.

The government led by Nikol Pashinyan does not recognize the results of the elections either. He declares that all the votes given to the CP are “authentic”, those who voted for the opposition were bought and received with electoral bribes. In other words, Nikol Pashinyan does not recognize the results of the same elections, through which he will try to cling to power for another 5 years.

The next step should have been the annulment of the results of the parliamentary elections and the appointment of new elections, but since Pashinyan knows that he cannot ensure the same result the second time, even with the latest cosmic-scale illegalities, he does not resort to such a step.

As a result, a situation is created in Armenia, in which the government responsible for only about 50 percent of the voters will function, because the head of that same government declares other citizens, more than half a million people, to be criminals and bribe-takers.

The problem in this case is not only the violation of the constitution, laws, presumption of innocence, political tradition, Pashinyan has violated them, individually and all together, so much so that after ever losing power, he may be imprisoned for several hundred years.

It is much more dangerous that the government, which, as a rule, is the government of all citizens regardless of the number of citizens who voted for it in the elections, declares itself the government of only those who voted for the CP. This is not only a political anomaly, but a disintegration of the state and public structure, an obvious step to exclude more than half of the citizens from the responsibility of the state. The day is not far when citizens may be required to provide proof of their vote while fulfilling this or that positive duty of the state, and all those who did not vote for CP may, say, be deprived of pension or medical care. Contrary to that the manifestation can also be expressed in the form of boycotting the state, duties towards the state by the citizens who did not choose the CP. For example, people may not pay taxes or refuse compulsory military service on the grounds that their votes have been stolen from their elected power. And in response to any rebuke, Nikol Pashinyan’s statement that the votes for the opposition were bought will be frowned upon.

Nikol Pashinyan, indiscriminately consolidating his own power, destroys the last remnants of the state. His assessment of the elections makes Armenia an internally incomplete state, which is only the country of those who are elected to power, and those who are not elected become stateless citizens. Their Pashinyan is not showing his heart, but the middle finger, for which he will ever answer. Not just in court.

“It is not fair. if they don’t want a person to participate in the electoral process, they can

June: 18, 2026

After the national elections, several government deputies, Alkhas Ghazaryan, Arusyak Julhakyan, Arusyak Manavazyan and Hasmik Hakobyan, presented a draft to the National Assembly, proposing to ban our compatriots living abroad from participating in the elections, if they did not live in Armenia for at least 183 days in the year preceding the elections.

“In the case of participating in national elections and referendums, the projects propose to emphasize not only the formal, but also the substantive aspect of a person’s connection with the state by virtue of citizenship. Accordingly, in order to participate in elections and referendums, it is proposed to establish a requirement of actually staying in the Republic of Armenia for 183 or more days during the 365 days preceding it, as of the 48th day preceding the day of the vote or referendum, and in the case of special elections of the National Assembly or a new vote, as of the 28th day, respectively, providing for local self-government bodies and local referendums currently system integration with established settings.

As a result of the adoption of the projects, the systemic unity of the realization of democracy will be ensured, guaranteeing the participation in democratic governance of those citizens whose connection with the state has a real nature and content,” it was noted. design.

Alkhas Ghazaryan, one of the authors of the project, in a briefing with journalists yesterday in the parliament said, it is not a good day that such a project was presented.

“The said change is conditioned by the last elections, and it is not a good day that we are going to such a change, because we had no idea that such questions might arise.”

Specialist in international law, former member of the National Assembly Taron Simonyan has not yet familiarized himself with the project, but is generally against being guided by such a principle.

“Even then, I was against all the restrictions related to the right to vote, which are aimed at our citizens. I was also against when they removed the procedure for organizing elections for our citizens abroad, which was 10-15 years ago.

It does not matter how long an RA citizen has lived in Armenia, if he is a citizen of this country, he should have the opportunity to participate in the elections by virtue of his citizenship. Of course, each state decides for itself how to limit the rights of its citizens in a temporal or non-temporal context, but it is against my beliefs from the point of view of jurisprudence that it makes a person a citizen and limits his right to vote.” of 168.am Taron Simonyan said in a conversation with

According to the expert of international law, all this is very similar to the practice of countries where electoral rights have been formally established, but actual people cannot go and participate in the elections, because there are mediated procedures.

“For example, blacks in the United States got the right to vote in the 19th century, but were able to exercise that right only in the 1970s. In other words, there were procedural limitations.

I agree with the opinions shared by many lawyers that a citizen is a citizen and his right should not be limited, if they do not want a person to participate in the electoral process, they can deprive him of his citizenship on the basis of not residing in the country.

We have such a procedure, when for 7 years a citizen does not participate in the life of his country in any way, does not say where he lives, does not establish contact with embassies, the state gets the right to limit him unilaterally,” emphasized our interlocutor.

As for the international practice, Taron Simonyan said that he has not studied it in detail, but he can clearly say that different practices are applied in different countries regarding participation in the electoral process.

Pashinyan confirmed our claim, the NSS was recognized as responsible for the “sleeve” of the video

June: 18, 2026

On June 17, we: “Will Pashinyan observe the “sleeve” of the video subject to the protection of the National Security Service in the “territory” of the command of the Border Guard Forces?” We are an article with a reprint to publish where we talked about banning the exit of the second president of RA, Robert Kocharyan, from one of the surveillance cameras of the border checkpoint installed in “Zvartnots”, Nikol Pashinyan’s family in the media appearance, whether or not it is defined by the law.

We insisted that Nikol Pashinyan will not see his responsibility regarding the “sleeve” of this video and will put everything on the leadership of the National Security Service directly subordinate to him and the command of the Border Guard troops. It turned out that we were not mistaken.

During the briefing held after the Cabinet meeting on June 18, journalists asked Pashinyan whether he will demand an official investigation on the occasion of the fact that the recording of one of the surveillance cameras of the border checkpoint installed in “Zvartnots” appeared in the media, there was a leak, to which he stated:

“If the question is whether I have appointed an official investigation, no, I have not. About what should be an official investigation, or why should it anger me? That which appears in your media, is it possible, but that it is in another media… Regarding what appeared in your media, I think there is not only an official investigation, but also a criminal case.

A NSS employee can decide whether or not to leak anything, what’s the problem? In other words, it is the information he possesses, he will leak it, he will not leak it, what is the problem there? The competent persons who have the authority to make those decisions will make them. Whenever that decision is made by people who do not have the authority and access to it, it is already a violation of the law.”

In response to another journalist’s question on the same topic, Pashinyan repeated that the NSS, having the relevant information, has the leverage to use it, it is up to him to decide. In this context, he, for some reason, remembered the case of Andranik Tevanyan, that the National Security Service published his “actions”.

“The NSS decides when to publish and when not to publish, what is the problem?” It was also a criminal case, a situation related to state security. Who decided that…, that is, the state can’t make a decision and take some actions,” Pashinyan emphasized.

The problem is that the state and the state official must act according to the law, if their actions are based on the law, no problem, if not, then it implies specific responsibility, especially when there are also laws on the rights of RA citizens. And Pashinyan should not forget that the NSS reports directly to him, and it is hard to believe that this happened only by the decision of the NSS management, without a preliminary conversation or consultation with him.

By the way, information leakage is the unauthorized access to confidential or restricted data, that is, there cannot be a wording of “leaking” about what happened according to the law.

We are fighting against the mechanism. There is absolutely no point in fighting Pashinyan

June: 18, 2026

At a meeting with media editors, the head of the “Strong Armenia” party, Samvel Karapetyan, addressed the question of why Azerbaijan, Turkey, the United States and Russia won as a result of the National Assembly elections held on June 7.

“I said that we didn’t win, but Pashinyan didn’t win either. Indeed it is. There are two Pashinyans. A Pashinyan is a human being, although he is a very bad person: weak, cowardly, liar, greedy, and on that basis the external forces, the forces of the famous countries, have built a mechanism. It is called Pashinyan, but it is already a mechanism, this mechanism serves to bring Armenia and the Armenian people to their knees.

And the most dangerous thing is that many countries look at the operation of this mechanism, even approve the operation of the respective countries, not realizing that this mechanism will bring the end of the first Christian state, because our neighboring countries impose the plan to destroy our state under the guise of peace. We are fighting against that mechanism, there is absolutely no point in fighting against Pashinyan the man,” he continued, adding that Pashinyan is running to the leaders of different countries as a talentless person, providing his services to maintain his power.

As for why Russia also won the elections, Samvel Karapetyan explained that until now he treated Armenia as an ally and patiently looked at small anti-Russian steps.

Whoever distributed even $100 election bribe is Nikol. our power does not divide bribes

June: 18, 2026

As we have already informed, h:philanthropist, founder of “Tashir Group” group of companies and chairman of “Strong Armenia” party Samvel Karapetyananswered to the questions of several media editors.

In the context of his questions, 24News director Narek Galstyan first reminded the interests of the authorities, whether Samvel Karapetyan will continue his political activities, whether he will complete the relinquishment of Cypriot and Russian passports, and then clarified:

“Will you continue to stay in Armenia and engage in politics, regardless of court proceedings, and will you complete the issue of only having an Armenian passport?”

The council of the opposition that you are talking about is almost clear, can you tell me the names of whom you will send invitations? In the pre-election period, various opposition forces distanced themselves from each other in order not to get involved in that past-present history. Will that distancing not happen anymore?

When you say that we will invite the ambassadors of the United States and various member states of the European Union…  these processes have shown in recent months that Pashinyan has the absolute support of the United States and the European Union, and we did not see any reaction from Western countries even in relation to the flagrant violations of human rights, what is the meaning?  do you really hope that something will change now?’

In response, Samvel Karapetyan first assured that he will not only stay, but his struggle will gather new momentum.

“You know that until now I am detained and my personal opportunities are limited, but I have participated more actively in all these processes to the best of my ability.

As for the passports, we have started the process, the day it will be necessary, the end of the process will already have happened,” explained the leader of “Strong Armenia”.

Speaking about the priorities of the collective opposition, he noted that the first issue is the removal of Pashinyan, “stopping the process of humiliation of our country, our people”.

“This person continues to humiliate our country and our people with his cynicism. Every step he takes, the Armenian people suffer from it.

Why are those international structures and ambassadors important for us to understand the processes that are really taking place in Armenia? They look at one side of the issue. the anti-Russian Pashinyan is in their favor. But it is not beneficial to the Armenian people. They should listen. maybe they don’t even imagine what is happening in Armenia, maybe they don’t imagine that with their help this mechanism will destroy the state of Armenia, I say again, the first Christian state.

And another very important question that this council should put before itself is the demand to release all the political prisoners, because we all understand that the guilt of these people is 0. they invented the subject of these election bribes so that during that time they could quietly distribute election bribes from the state budget.

We all understand why those misled people, those deceived again, voted for Pashinyan. And apart from those people who didn’t give, they are just painted voices. However, people voted for Pashinyan. their main reason for giving is their election bribes. This gave him a voice. For what else should an Armenian vote for Pashinyan? I can’t imagine why the person who brought so much evil and destruction should get a vote. That’s why they invented several theses that have nothing to do with it, at least, I can confidently say from our forces that there was no incident, I can even say that whoever distributed election bribes from our party, even 100 dollars, is Nikol,” explained Samvel Karapetyan.

If the opposition does not take the mandates, the CP will have a single Turkish caravan

June: 18, 2026

Samvel Karapetyan, head of the “Strong Armenia” party, answered the question of Satik Seyranyan, editor-in-chief of “168 zam” newspaper and 168.am website, at a meeting with media editors: “More than 700,000 people did not vote for the government, and perhaps the goal of the opposition was not only power for the sake of power, but to prevent the Turkish-Azerbaijani plans that Pashinyan is going to implement, especially when the leader of the Turkish “Nationalist Movement” party, Devlet Bahceli, is very upset. directly stated that “Trump’s Way” or “Zangezur Corridor” is actually “Turan Corridor”. Accordingly, the opposition has a problem of not polluting the votes.

“In all cases, Nikol Pashinyan did not win these elections. If we take the opposition forces that, so to speak, ignited the votes of the people, if it was not distributed, if the CP did not take advantage of those votes, by all calculations it was seen that they did not win these elections. But they are trying to register it as a victory, and most importantly, they and their supporting forces started to develop the narratives that the opposition should not take the mandates, because if the opposition does not take the mandates, they get the opportunity to rule the National Assembly alone,” Samvel Karapetyan responded to the above-mentioned questions, adding that there is also the government’s issue of legitimacy.

“I want to discuss this issue with all the opposition forces, we will understand whether we will take the mandates, we will not take the mandates, we will fight because our state will have an illegitimate government and the mechanism formed by Azerbaijan and Turkey in RA, with which they will lead our country to Turkification,” he stressed.
