YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received European Union’s Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, Toivo Klaar, the foreign ministry said.

During the meeting FM Mirzoyan presented Armenia’s position on the establishment of regional peace and stability and the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and in this context reaffirmed the importance of restoring the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship.

The sides discussed the implementation process of the agreements reached with the results of the Brussels meetings. Minister Mirzoyan stressed the impermissibility of comments made over the agreements that have nothing to do with the reality and emphasized the necessity of the rhetoric and practical steps for ensuring a constructive environment.

The sides exchanged views also on the activities of the commission on delimitation and border security between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the unblocking of economic and transportation infrastructure in the region.

Minister Mirzoyan considered unacceptable Azerbaijan’s continuous attempts to destabilize the situation in South Caucasus through militaristic statements and border provocations.

Russian, Turkish FMs to discuss also Karabakh at upcoming meeting

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit Turkey on June 8, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova told reporters at a briefing today.

Lavrov will meet with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu to discuss the bilateral relations, the economic cooperation amid the current sanctions against Russia.

Zakharova informed that the ministers will also exchange views on regional and international agenda-related issues.

“First of all, views will be exchanged on the current situation in Ukraine, as well as in Syria, Libya, Karabakh, Balkans, Central Asia and Afghanistan”, Zakharova said.

Russia’s Lavrov to participate in session of CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers in Yerevan

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov will participate in the session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Yerevan on June 10, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a briefing today, reminding that this year Armenia chairs at the CSTO.

The CSTO foreign ministers are expected to sign a consultation plan on foreign policy, defense and security for 2022-2024 based on the results of the session.

Maria Zakharova said that FM Lavrov will have a number of meetings in Yerevan on the sidelines of the session.

Fly Arna receives Air Operator License

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. Armenian National Interests Fund (ANIF) announced that Fly Arna, Armenia’s national airline a joint venture company between ANIF and Air Arabia Group, has received its Air Operating Certificate (AOC) and Air Operator License (AOL), which allow it to start operating from Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport.

“Securing the AOC and AOL highlight that Fly Arna has met all the professional capabilities, adheres to all safety regulations needed for aircraft operations and has proven fit-to-fly ability following the completion of rigorous inspections by the Civil Aviation Committee of the Republic of Armenia (CAC). Fly Arna will continue to work closely with the Civil Aviation Committee to finalize the launch date.

Thanks to the cooperation of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Republic of Armenia, the Fly Arna’s team successfully obtained the operating license on time after meeting all the required standards and passing all inspections. This important milestone will now allow the airline to start its operations and reflect the confidence of the Armenian aviation sector, its potential and the role that Fly Arna will play in supporting its long-term prospects.

Fly Arna has been assigned the reservation code G6 by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The carrier will use Airbus A320 aircraft and will follow the low-cost business model of Air Arabia”, ANIF said in a statement.

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. Speaker of Parliament of Armenia Alen Simonyan received today the delegation led by Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport Anahit Hakobyan of the Artsakh Republic, the Parliament’s press service said.

Welcoming the Minister, the Speaker of Parliament expressed his gratitude for the close cooperation formed between the similar Committees engaged with education and science of Armenia and Artsakh. According to Alen Simonyan, the development of the science sphere on the basis of that cooperation, the solution of the humanitarian issues, the legislative reforms, the protection of the historical-cultural and spiritual values on the territories passed under the control of Azerbaijan because of war in Artsakh and the educational programs being implemented in the IT sphere of Artsakh.

Highlighting the regular meetings with the colleagues of Artsakh, Alen Simonyan mentioned some details of the last joint discussion, according to which, today Azerbaijan tries to eliminate the traces of the Armenian records from the historical-architectural monuments. The Head of the legislative body added that big work should be done in terms of presenting this problem to the international community.

Alen Simonyan highlighted the role and importance of education in the current situation, on which the further discussion was developed.

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport Anahit Hakobyan of the Artsakh Republic evaluated the bilateral cooperation in all spheres, especially in terms of the elaboration of the educational strategy program, the legislative reforms of the sphere and the cultural cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by the Chair of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Sisak Gabrielyan and the Committee members and the Chair of the Artsakh Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Aram Harutyunyan.

Genesis Armenia foundation and RELQ technology school launch large-scale project for 44-Day War participants

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. Genesis Armenia think tank/foundation and RELQ technology school are jointly launching a large-scale project “Reintegration through Education” which will allow the 44-day war participants (primarily those who became disabled) to be reintegrated into society through quality education and social-psychological support.

With the support of the Armenian Fund of France and the material support of numerous donors, Genesis Armenia and RELQ technology school will provide the program participants with an opportunity to become competitive IT specialists after passing the 6-month intensive training courses.

The beneficiaries will have a chance to enter into IT labor market (including global) with high professional knowledge, communication, negotiating, management and teamwork skills.

The project will launch in August 2022 after a detailed selection of participants and trainers.

In a statement Genesis Armenia and RELQ foundations said they will make new initiatives for the rehabilitation of war participants.

To participate in the program, applicants will have to pass selection stages, then a final selection will be made to form the respective group.

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. The presentation of the Spanish section of ARMENPRESS state news agency and the discussion of issues on further deepening the cooperation with the leading partner EFE were the main goals of the recent visit of Director of ARMENPRESS Narine Nazaryan to Madrid.

The meetings in Spain, which were organized by the efforts of the Embassy of Armenia, were aimed at presenting the broader Spanish-speaking circles that the agency already added the 6th foreign language, which translates the news under a variety of headings, from official news up to important political issues, from economic news to public, cultural, sports news and the coverage of activities of Diaspora-Armenian communities.

During the meeting with Emilio Crespo, the international cooperation coordinator at EFE news agency, the Spanish language service of ARMENPRESS was presented, the prospects of putting the Memorandum of Understanding signed between ARMENPRESS and EFE in 2017 on practical basis and developing the effective cooperation for the exchange of information were discussed.

The sides exchanged ideas on the settlement process of the relations between Armenia and Turkey. Ruben Rubinyan presented the positions and the priorities of the Republic of Armenia.

Toivo Klaar underlined that the EU is interested in promoting the advancement of the process.

The interlocutors discussed the regional situation, highlighted the establishment of peace and stability in the South Caucasus.

No quorum in Parliament to hold emergency session requested by opposition

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. The emergency session of the Parliament of Armenia convened at the request of the opposition lawmakers didn’t take place because of the absence of quorum.

33 MPs were registered for the session.

The members of the ruling Civil Contract faction earlier announced that they will not take part in the session.

The agenda includes one item – the draft statement drafted by opposition Hayastan and Pativ Unem factions titled “On the Occasion of the Armenian-Azerbaijani and Armenian-Turkish Relations”.

Despite the absence of quorum, the opposition lawmakers didn’t leave the session hall. MP from Hayastan faction Aram Vardevanyan approached the tribune and read the text of the statement without a speaker, which was followed by applauds of the opposition lawmakers.
