The cause of the incident is domestic. The Police of Armenia told Armenian News-NEWS.am this in connection with Sunday evening’s fatal shootings in Aragatsotn Province.

“On June 19, at around 7:45 pm, an incident took place in Nigavan village of Aragatsotn Province, with the participation of a group of people.

During that time, a shot was fired. According to preliminary data, a hunting rifle was used.

The six wounded men were taken to various medical centers. One of them died.

A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the incident (…).

We inform that the incident does not have a political context; moreover, the reason is domestic,” the police stated, in particular.

We reported earlier that shots were fired and a murder took place Sunday in Aragatsotn Province.

And according to politik.am website, relatives of two members of the ruling Civil Contract Party had shot at a group of youth because they had cursed at PM Nikol Pashinyan.

Three young people were hospitalized—in critical condition—at “Armenia” medical center after the shootings in Nigavan village yesterday, one of whom, unfortunately, has died. Ashot Kurghinyan, Deputy Director of “Armenia” Republican Medical Center, told this to Armenian News-NEWS.am

“All three had gunshot wounds. Two of the three sustained gunshot wounds to the head and neck area, and the 18-year-old—to the chest area.

The first one was pronounced dead here. The second was operated on by neurosurgeons; he has a very severe brain injury. After the surgery, he is at the intensive care unit—in a critical condition (…).

And the condition of the 18-year-old young man is, thank God, the most stable, stable and severe. He also had an operation, the fragment was removed from his lung, his lung was drained, and he is also at the intensive care unit. Right now he is being disconnected from the respirator,” Kurghinyan said.

“This is yet another criminal behavior of the current government. The perpetrators and those responsible for creating this atmosphere and permissiveness must leave as soon as possible. This bloody process must be stopped,” the oppositionist said.

What “bars” should we lower? We only have red lines; that is the status. The whole society is united in this matter. Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Foreign Minister David Babayan told this to a press conference Monday in Yerevan.

Answering the question about the statements of the representatives of the ruling party in Armenia about Artsakh, the latter’s FM said: “Official Yerevan has not said anything new about the status and destiny of Artsakh; the MPs have said. The participants of Resistance Movement gathered on the France Square and intend to march to the office of the ruling “Civil Contract” party, as well as to the buildings of the Police and National Security Service of Armenia.

Gegham Manukyan, a deputy from the opposition “Armenia” bloc, earlier announced the convening of the gathering.

Resistance Movement participants marched to the Civil Contract Party office.

The participants of the movement poured paint on the place near the office of the ruling party.

“Nikol Pashinyan’s bloodied hands turned the Civil Contract Party into a civil war party. From the very first day, you divided people into black and white, old and new. We in Armenia do not have ours and yours, we have only patriotic Armenians,” said one of the protesters.

At the moment the protesters are marching toward the police and NSS buildings.

The United States is willing to continue to cooperate with Russia in facilitating a settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Karen Donfried told Radio Azatutyun.

“The U.S. has continued to say that we support the Minsk Group co-chair process. We continue to believe that it is a very important format, particularly on Nagorno-Karabakh, and it is essential that we keep various formats in play to try to advance peace. And we will continue to do that going forward,” she said.

Donfried also responded to a question about whether she was referring to cooperation with Russia.

“Yes. Russia is a Minsk Group co-chair. France, the U.S. and Russia would continue in that format,” Donfried noted.

She also commented on statements by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who says there is no need for an OSCE MG.

“Azerbaijan has not been supportive of the Minsk Group co-chair process, the United States is,” said Donfried. “We are a participant in that process and we will continue to do so.”

The action of the Resistance Movement at the building of the National Security Service has come to an end.

MP Aram Vardevanyan of the “Armenia” bloc said that the rally will be held on 24 June in France Square.

Resistance Movement participants gathered on France Square today, and marched to the offices of Civil Contract party, then to the police and National Security Service buildings.

The participants poured red paint near the office of the ruling party.
