During a conversation with Armenian News-NEWS.am, Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Harutyun Marutyan said the Museum-Institute holds at least two temporary exhibitions every year and that this year one of the exhibitions will be devoted to the stories of certain families of victims or survivors of the Armenian Genocide.

Marutyan explained that the exhibitions are usually devoted to a general topic, but this time the Museum-Institute decided to cover this topic and present the destinies of families. He added that the second temporary exhibition will be held in the fall.

“There were several educational institutions that operated in the Ottoman Empire and Western Armenia. The Museum-Institute has preserved the graduation certificates that were granted by those institutions,” Marutyan said and mentioned that the Museum-Institute recently presented a book presenting the memories of those who survived the Armenian Genocide, has published four books and will publish another three or four this year.

Arman Saghatelyan: Karen Bekaryan’s and Ara Saghatelyan’s detention sparked great excitement in Azerbaijan

I can’t say whether courts will maintain their high reputation, but I hope so because, unlike the law-enforcement system which has almost completely turned into a repressive system, we see judges make adequate and reasonable decisions and behave adequately and reasonably every now and then. This is what co-founder of Quartet Media Arman Saghatelyan told reporters today, touching upon the detention of former chief of staff of the National Assembly of Armenia Ara Saghatelyan.

According to Arman Saghatelyan, the judiciary is the institution that is currently trying to go against the political orders and cheap shows.

When told that the detainees are high-level experts and asked if the fact that they are targeted by the authorities is by chance, Saghatelyan said the following:

“I can say that Karen Bekaryan and Ara Saghatelyan are major analysts with many years of experience in their respective fields. Azerbaijani propagandists have been afraid of them for a long time, and the detention of these two has already sparked great excitement in Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijanis welcome the fact that they are detained.”

Arman Saghatelyan added that this is a process of political repressions and that the authorities are trying to silence and isolate the analysts.

The court is currently examining the appeal of Ara Saghatelyan’s attorney against the decision on his detention.

The National Security Service of Armenia has detained former chief of staff of the National Assembly Ara Saghatelyan, co-founder of Quartet Media Karen Bekaryan and manager of the office of International Center for Development of Parliamentarism NGO Mher Avagyan. They are detained under particular articles of the Criminal Code of Armenia (inciting national, racial or religious hatred; an organized group making public calls for use of violence, publicly justifying or advocating violence; violating the rules for publication or dissemination of information during the legal regime of martial law).

Nobody gave a full explanation about what my mobile phone or office computer had to do with the search for a fake user account, and what was also unclear was the reason for my apprehension. This is what Azerologist Anzhela Elibegova told reporters today, adding that even though she was released from the National Security Service building early, she wasn’t able to exercise her right to a call.

“Besides that, after I exited the building, I found out that an attorney had been trying to enter the building for nearly an hour. I believe the process isn’t over yet. In any case, for unknown reasons, I still don’t have my mobile phone and office computer and can’t do my job,” she said.

Elibegova stated that the apprehended and detained persons were very actively involved in the information wars against Azerbaijan.

Hero of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Arshavir Gharamyan today posted the following on his Facebook page:

Over the past three years, the indifferent silence of the so-called international community in regard to the internal and external processes in Armenia (Republic of Armenia and Republic of Artsakh), as well as the encroachments against Armenia and the Armenian people show that Armenia has perished from the political map of the world as an entity and has remained as an object on the physical map of the world.

P.S.: While some of the main players of the political field are developing and enhancing a “plan”, others are preparing to implement “Plan A” or “Plan B”.”

As Azeris destroy WWII memorial in Artsakh, newspaper warns of fascism rebirth and new Hitler’s rise

 17:18, 18 February, 2021

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 18, ARMENPRESS. Multiple cases of vandalism are recorded in the territories of Artsakh that have gone under Azerbaijani control after the 2020 war.

Infoteka24, a leading online news portal, labeled the Azeri vandalisms as a “rebirth of fascist ideology”.

“The memorial honoring the heroes of the Great Patriotic War wasn’t chosen coincidentally by the brutes. Today, a rebirth of fascist ideology is taking place in Azerbaijan, against which the entire world fought in the 20th century. The silence of the international community will soon lead to two new Hitlers emerging in the world, in person of Erdogan and Aliyev,” Infoteka wrote in an article, referring to the desecration of the WWII memorial in the village of Avetaranots.

It mentioned that international organizations, politicians, including the Russian ministry of foreign affairs, have all condemned the vandalisms committed by Azerbaijanis in Artsakh, but no actions followed.

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 18, ARMENPRESS. 9094 servicemen of the Armenian military were wounded in action during the 2020 Nagorno Karabakh War, the general prosecution announced today at a consultation on the military prosecution’s activities.

The final death toll isn’t yet available because of the ongoing identification of bodies and the search operations.

But the prosecution noted that in 2020 the bodies of 3389 servicemen were identified.

Speaking on the criminal cases related to the war, Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan said that it is necessary for a deep, comprehensive and fully objective investigation to give legal assessments to the Turkey-backed Azerbaijani war of aggression, the gross violations of international humanitarian law against servicemen, civilians and towns of Armenia and Artsakh, the Azeri crimes against humanity and use of prohibited munitions, as well as deployment of international terrorists by Azerbaijan.

Other issues related to the military were also discussed at the meeting.

Defense Minister V. Harutyunyan said that revealing all circumstances concerning the war is of urgent necessity.
