YEREVAN, APRIL 28, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan held a telephone conversation with President of Iran Hassan Rouhani.

As ARMENPRESS was informed from the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia, PM Pashinyan congratulated Hassan Rouhani and the entire Iranian people on the occasion of Ramadan.

The interlocutors exchanged information on the situation over coronavirus in their countries and the measures aimed at preventing its spread. They exchanged worlds of condolences for the victims of pandemic and highlighted the necessity of international and bilateral efforts for overcoming this global threat.

The sides expressed satisfaction over the fact that despite the temporary restrictions on communication, the trade and economic cooperation between the two countries continues and highlighted the implementation of future steps in that direction.

YEREVAN, APRIL 28, ARMENPRESS. Coronavirus spread rate has been nearly the same in the recent days, 3-5%, but it was possible to smooth the growth curve to some extent, ARMENPRESS reports Health Minister of Armenia Arsen Torosyan wrote on his Facebook page.

‘’In the recent days the growth rate of the disease is nearly the same, between 3-5%. We have succeeded in smoothing the growth curve to some extent. We managed to gain some extra time and reorder to have a more organized system of the fight against the disease’’, the Minister wrote.

He emphasized that the efforts must be continuous and they have to be united, everyone should have his share of responsibility. The Minister reminded that it’s necessary to preserve social distancing and wash hands more frequently, wear face masks when possible.

‘’Parallel with the easing of the restrictions, we have to demonstrate greater sense of responsibility for preventing the spread of the virus. The easing of the restrictions does not mean that the risk of being infected or infecting someone else have disappeared’’, Torosyan emphasized.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Armenia is 1867 by 11:00, April 28. Death toll is 30. 866 patients have recovered, there are 971 active cases.

Head of Committee of International Relations of PARLACEN condemns Armenian Genocide

Head of the Committee on International Relations and Migration Affairs of the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) Daniel Ortegah issued a statement on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, recognizing and condemning the crime committed against Armenians in Ottoman Empire. ARMENPRESS reports the Embassy of Armenia in Mexico presented the text of the statement.  

‘’105 years ago, in an ordinary day for the world like today, the world learned with horror that during the World War I nearly 1.5 million Armenians were massacred by the Ottoman Empire. The leaders of the empire that was already shaking due to the military defeats allied with Germany to withstand the Entente Alliance during the period when the propaganda of the military leadership of the empire was trying to present Armenians as troublemakers of the fifth column serving the Russians’’, reads the statement, noting that Armenians were either killed or deported to the Syrian Desert by the Ottoman Empire, the successor of which is Turkey.

The Head of the Committee of PARLACEN announced that he joins the countries, organizations and individuals that have recognized and condemned the Armenian Genocide.

Golden Apricot International Film Festival 2020 to take place on November 1-8

“During these days, the Golden Apricot team was refraining from making any hasty statements regarding the July 12-19 festival dates, as we were discussing various possible scenarios (from an online festival to postponing until next year) with Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, as well as many Armenian and international festival partners.

As a result of all these discussions and with other backup options in mind, at this moment the “Golden Apricot” team considers it expedient to hold the festival on November 1-8, 2020”, the statement said.

“Let’s hope everything goes well. This time we will not meet in July, but we hope to celebrate the Golden Apricot together in November”, filmmaker and founding president of the festival Harutyun Khachatryan said.

The outbreak of coronavirus had no impact on Iran-Armenia joint projects. He emphasized that Armenia prepares to meet the 60 specialists for the construction of Iran-Armenia power transmission line.

The construction of the 3rd power transmission line will give an opportunity to add the volume of gas-electricity exchange program.

Armenia coronavirus cases reach 1,932

YEREVAN, APRIL 29, ARMENPRESS. 65 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Armenia in the past one day, the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention said.

Thus, the total number of confirmed cases has reached 1,932.

The number of people who recovered from the virus has increased by 34. The total number of recoveries has reached 900.

The death toll is 30.

The active cases are 1000.

In the past days 2 patients have died, who were infected with the coronavirus, but the cause of the death was another disease.

So far, 20,189 people have passed testing.

Armenian government predicts decline in taxes-GDP ratio due to COVID-19

The Armenian government predicts a decline in the pre-planned taxes-GDP ratio due to the coronavirus situation in the country, Finance Minister Atom Janjughazyan said during the parliamentary debate of the 2020 state budget law, in response to the question of opposition Prosperous Armenia faction MP Mikayel Melkumyan.

“Based on the results of 2019 the taxes in GDP were 22.6%. When the taxation base is being cut, it’s a negatively affecting factor on the tax-GDP ratio even under the quality of the same administration. In other words, we predict that the tax-GDP ratio will be 22.1% compared to the expected 22.6%”, the minister said.

In other words, 6 trillion 485 billion drams nominal amount in GDP and 1 trillion 433 billion of it in tax revenues are predicted.

According to the bill on making changes in the Law on the 2020 State Budget, in fact it is expected to attract nearly 260 billion AMD additional debt funds to mitigate the economic consequences of the novel coronavirus.

Armenian President congratulates Israeli counterpart on national day
