Nikol Pashinyan: Armenia may expect from strategic partner Russia not to discuss raise of gas price now

Gazprom Armenia has submitted petition to the Public Services Regulatory Commission which will discuss it.

“We continue political consultations over the gas issue,” Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a press conference today, asked about gas issue.

“Unfortunately, as of the moment I cannot say any concrete thing, but we must register that in condition of collapse of the markets of energy bearers and in conditions of the decline of oil price we may expect from our strategic partner Russia not to discuss the raise of gas price now, taking into consideration the situation with coronavirus and the issues it caused,” he said.

Prime Minister: We are waiting for the comments of the Venice Commission on the issue of the Constitutional Court of Armenia

A referendum on constitutional amendments, according to which it is planned to resolve the issue with the Constitutional Court; can be held in  May-June of next year in the best case.   The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan  announced this on May 16 at a press conference.  According to him,  today, waiting for the end of the pandemic to hold a referendum means  losing time. For this reason, the country’s authorities sent an  appeal to the Venice Commission with a request about the possibility  of solving this problem through the capabilities of the National  Assembly.  To recall, the vote was scheduled for April 5 this year.  The draft amendments to the Constitution of Armenia, developed by the  My Step faction, provided for the termination of the powers of the  chairman and members of the Constitutional Court, appointed before  the constitutional reform in 2015. Only two of the nine judges of the  Constitutional Court, Vahe Grigoryan and Armen Dilanyan, are not  subject to this change. The remaining seven, including the chairman  of the Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan, became members of the  Constitutional Court in accordance with the provisions of the main  law as amended in 1995 and 2005.

Prime Minister: Possibly, there is evidence in the case of March 1, 2008 that will remain forever lost

ArmInfo. The cartridge cases of those who shot were not found, and we have no way to identify and find the weapon from which the shots were fired from the cartridges. The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a press  conference, referring to the events of March 1, 2008 in Armenia.

When asked about who killed 10 innocent victims, during the events of  March 1, 2008, the prime minister noted that many details of the case  were disclosed. , Pashinyan  said.

The Prime Minister emphasized that all efforts should be made and  this person should be returned to Armenia.  ,  Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister also said that perhaps there is also evidence that  will forever be lost. , Pashinyan said.

It should be noted that as a result of clashes at opposition rallies  that followed the 2008 presidential election in Armenia, in which  Serzh Sargsyan won de jure, 10 people died on March 1. The  investigation is still ongoing. The second president of Armenia,  Robert Kocharian, and a number of senior officials of the time are  undergoing a case on charges of overthrowing the constitutional  order. –

Armenia examines issue of creation of Supreme Court

ArmInfo. We are discussing the  possible elimination of the institution of the Constitutional Court.   Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced this during a  press conference. 

The Prime Minister noted that the issue of creating the Supreme Court  is being considered.  

In this regard, a number of problems arise>,  said Pashinyan.  He  said that if by the end of next year it becomes obvious that there  are no special changes in the judicial system, then fundamental  reforms will be implemented in this area.  As for the funds allocated  for the referendum on introducing estates into the Constitution, the  Prime Minister emphasized that they budget has these capabilities.

Leopard caught on camera in Syunik Province

Camera traps have captured a leopard in Arevik National Park in Syunik province on May 13. As Zangezur biosphere SNCO reported on its Facebook page, the new image was obtained from the cameras installed in the park.

The Caucasian or Persian leopard (Panthera pardus saxicolor), is one of the most endangered species living in the Caucasus. This leopard subspecies can be found in the South Caucasus countries, Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. Some experts estimate there are less than 1300 leopards left in wild.

40 residents at Yerevan’s Nork nursing home test positive for coronavirus

40 residents of Yerevan’s Nork old age home have tested positive for Covid-19, the Spokeswoman at the Ministry of Health Alina Nikoghosyan wrote on Facebook. infections have been confirmed among the staff as well.

“This is a quite dangerous epicenter of the virus, considering the age group of the patients and the accompanying chronic diseases they may have,” Nikoghosyan added.

In her words, all patients are under the care of the medical staff from Yerevan St. Grigor Lusavorich Medical Centre. The infected residents and staff members will be transferred to Yerevan hospitals for the future treatment.

Museum of Literature and Art holds online flash mob of sharing photos “Me at the Museum”

The Museum of Literature and Art has joined the celebrations of International Museum Day 2020 which takes place on Monday 18 May 2020. To mark the date, the museum has launched an international flash mob to engage with museum audiences asking to share images of them taken at the Museum.

“We are confident that you have taken photo of yourself at the Museum of Art and Literature with one of favorite exhibits. We ask you look back at your photos, recall the best moments, choose a photo taken at the Museum and post in the comments section of the flash mob call. The user whose image receives the most likes will get a surprise gift from the Museum,” said the flash mob announcement.

It is noted that the results will be summed up on May 21.

Process of revealing real owners of mining companies will continue – PM Pashinyan

YEREVAN, MAY 16, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan assures that concrete processes have taken place for revealing the real owners of mining companies, these processes will continue.

During today’s online press conference the reporter said that back to December 2019 the PM stated that the list of owners of mining companies in Armenia will be published in January-February. Pashinyan was asked why this issue has been forgotten.

“It has not been forgotten, quite the contrary, many concrete processes have taken place. Legislative changes have taken place for revealing the real owners. And based on these changes, the deadline for submitting declarations of persons involved in the field has been set on February 20, 2020. I mean that this process is completely in process”, the PM said.

Pashinyan said this is a new system not only in Armenia, but also around the world, and the declaration system of real owners still needs to work, develop, and the legislative changes must take place. However, he said that the names of real owners are revealed, at least at the public level. “There are also some criminal cases, and I think that all answers to these questions will be clear during the investigation of these criminal cases and successful passing to the judicial stage. But I mean that this process is not forgotten, it moves on and will go to the end”, he said.

On April 23, 2019, the Armenian parliament adopted the bill on revealing the real owners of mining companies.
