The only political force which can state before the election campaign
starts that they have won is the National Solidarity Party, stated the
leader of this party Artashes Geghamyan running in the presidential
election on the first day of the election campaign, January 21. He
says over the 11 years since its establishment the political party
has undergone criticism but it still stands, which is serendipity.

In connection with the presidential election, Artashes Geghamyan
rules out supporting Levon Ter-Petrosyan consciously. Besides, he
declined to tell whether he may support or join another opposition
candidate, saying that it is a matter of time. By the way, during
the presentation of his election program Artashes Geghamyan spared a
lot of time for criticizing Levon Ter-Petrosyan and his supporters,
noting this time that the first president states to seek no support
from the outside but holds an interview with the Izvestia. "Only
Armenians wish good to Armenians," Artashes Geghamyan said.

GAIS Goteborg have signed Armenian Player of the Year Levon Pachajyan

league title in November and was ever-present for Armenia in 2007.

Pyunik departures He becomes the fourth key player to leave Pyunik
during the transfer window following the departures of Agvan Lazarian,
Aleksandr Tadevosyan and Robert Arzumanyan, joining a GAIS side
sitting fourth from bottom in the Swedish Allsvenskan. Pachajyan
arrived at Pyunik in 2003 and won the Armenian championship in each
of his five seasons with the club. He admitted in December, however,
that it was time to test himself abroad and after impressing on trial
with GAIS he took the plunge.

Overseas dream "Every Armenian player dreams of playing for a top
European club and playing in a major league," said Pachajyan, who
has been capped 18 times. "It is exactly the same for me. It is a
massive honour to play for a big European club, but it is hard to
earn a move to one. First you have to establish yourself in one of
the more modest leagues."

Karabakh mediators may return to Baku if talks in Yerevan productive
– diplomat

BAKU Jan 15

The co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group, an organization mediating in
the settlement of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia over
Nagorno-Karabakh, will return to Baku from Yerevan to continue
discussing ways to resolve the problem if their talks with the
Armenian leadership prove productive, Azeri Deputy Foreign Minister
Araz Azimov told journalists on Tuesday.

"The co-chairmen are in Yerevan now, and if need be, they will return
to Baku and these discussions will be continued," Azimov said.

If the co-chairmen do not consider it necessary to return to Baku
after the talks with the Armenian leadership, their next visit to the
region will take place later, he said.

The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen’s current visit to the region is
aimed at gauging the conflicting parties’ attitudes toward a new set
of proposals the mediators handed to the Azeri and Armenian foreign
ministers at a meeting in Madrid in late November, Azimov said.

"These proposals are being considered. Discussions with the co-
chairmen were held yesterday on the basis of these proposals," he
said.

Sleeping prophet Edgar Cayce saw the rise of Soviet Union in 2010

Sleeping prophet Edgar Cayce saw the rise of Soviet Union in 2010

18.01.2008

He predicted two World Wars, their start and end dates, the economic
crisis in 1929 and the following _economic growth_
( nomy-525) in 1933. He also
foretold the defeat of Germans at the Kursk Bulge, the fall of fascism
and the victory of the USSR in the Great Patriotic War. They called
him the sleeping prophet, as he made his predictions while asleep. He
would close his eyes, fall asleep and begin to prophesy. When awake,
the prophet would remember nothing of what he had spoken about at
night.

This article is about one of the most famous predictors in the history
of mankind – Edgar Cayce (March 18, 1877 – January 3, 1945). In the
west he is no less famous than _Vanga_
() in Eastern Europe. Having no
medical education, Cayce could successfully diagnose and cure
people. Last year saw 130 years since Cayce’s birthday.

A month before his death, when the Red Army victoriously walked
through Europe, the prophet predicted the fall of communism and the
collapse of the _Soviet Union_
( ion/) . He also said that
Russia would successfully meet the after-communism crisis
`byfriendship with the nation which trusts in God even on its
banknotes. "Through Russia, comes the hope of the world. Not in
respect to what is sometimes termed Communism or Bolshevism — no! But
freedom — freedom! That each man will live for his fellow man. The
principle has been born there. It will take years for it to be
crystallized; yet out of Russia comes again the hope of the world," he
said.

He also believed that those nations who would be in good relations
with Russia, would live better, gradually changing the whole world for
the better.

Thus, Cayce’s visions came true. The USA and the U.S. _dollar_
( e/21-11-2007/101316-us_dollar_strengthen-0)
in particular really left a mark on the post-perestroika Russian
history; andthose countries that maintain friendly relations with
Russia live perfectly well thanks to Russian _oil_
( 11-2007/100953-oil_prices-0)
and gas. But what would happen next? Not so long ago many experts
said that Cayce’s forecast about the revival of the Soviet Union in
2010 was absurd. However, this prophesy is gradually becoming
true. Belarus is known to be the first candidate for the alliance.

Then, as modern political scientists think, it could be followed by
Kyrgyzstan, Eastern Ukraine, Armenia and Kazakhstan. Even
freedom-loving Georgia will possibly take a step towards friendship
with Russia. It is worthy of note that legendary prophetess Vanga also
said that Russia would be a great empire again.

But other Cayce’s predictions are not so optimistic. He predicted the
growth of political power in China. He envisioned the future where
China would be` the cradle of _Christianity_
( hristianity/) as applied in the
lives of men’. No Third World War is to take place according to his
forecasts. Something more awful is in store -natural cataclysms.

In 1930 Cayce prophesied the global warming, although nobody thought
about climate changes at that time. `Where there has been a frigid or
semi-tropical climate, there will be more tropical weather, and moss
and fern will grow,’ he indicated, `New York, Connecticut and many
territories of the EastCoast will be seriously disturbed, along with
many territories of the West Coast and the central part of the United
States. Los Angeles and San Francisco will be among those that will
be destroyed. The waters of the Great Lakes will flow into the Gulf
of Mexico.’

Climatic and seismic cataclysms are to shake the whole planet and,
consequently, change it greatly, Cayce predicted. But Russia will
suffer least of all.

It will lead the reviving civilization with the centre in Western
Siberia.

But the time when all the above-said events should happen is already
wrong: Cayce assigned the end of the 20th century for all these
catastrophes. Butit is still possible that he defined the tendency
itself quite right. Scientists say that in about ten years the glacier
melting in Greenland and Antarctica can provoke violent tectonic
activities such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis and
floods. Cayce’s predictions remind those of Vanga’s at this point. In
1979 she prophesied that everything would thaw like ice and only
Russia would be left untouched.

TORONTO: Genocide Course Irks Turks

GENOCIDE COURSE IRKS TURKS
By Bryn Weese, Sun Media

Toronto Sun, Ontario, Canada
Jan 17 2008

It wasn’t even on last night’s agenda, but a Toronto District School
Board committee spent more than an hour getting public input on a
proposed Grade 11 history course about genocide.

The education ministry has already approved the course, Genocide:
Historical and Contemporary Implications.

But the course is causing an uproar among local Turks because it also
deals with the killing of hundreds of thousands of Armenians during
the fall of the Ottoman Empire in 1915 in modern-day Turkey.

Lale Eskicioglu, executive director of the Council of Turkish Canadians
(CTC), believes too many people dispute the idea of Armenian genocide
to include it under that title and is upset the community wasn’t
consulted during the course’s development.

"We cannot have the Armenian tragedy under that title (genocide),
but we want debate on this topic," she said, noting the CTC believes
university is a better place to teach the subject.

Eskicioglu was one of about 200 people — divided equally on whether
to include the subject or not — at a program and school services
committee last night.

Prof. Frank Chalk, director of genocide and human rights studies
at Concordia University in Montreal, said the facts of the centrally
planned extermination of Armenians are "incontestable," but some people
in the Turkish community might object because they feel it is a "blot"
on their community and reputation.

"Nobody here is accusing the Turkish people of genocide," he told
the crowd.

Board spokesman Nadine Segal said that although the course wasn’t on
last night’s agenda, the committee didn’t think it would be right to
ask interested parties to return at a later date.

"The program and school services committee wanted to honour the
community concerns by allowing them to present tonight," she said,
noting the board expected a high level of interest in the course.

A special committee is being struck to discuss the course further,
but the director of education will ultimately decide where, if at all,
the course should be offered.

ANKARA: Dink To Be Commemorated Amidst Allegations Of Murder Cover-U

DINK TO BE COMMEMORATED AMIDST ALLEGATIONS OF MURDER COVER-UP

Today’s Zaman, Turkey
Jan 17 2008

Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink, who was fatally shot on
Jan. 19, 2007, will be commemorated on the first anniversary of his
death with a series of ceremonies in Turkey and abroad on Saturday,
while suspicions persist over a police cover-up in his murder.

People will protest the lack of any judicial progress on the murder by
gathering in front of the Agos daily’s building in Ýstanbul’s Þiþli
district at 3 p.m. — the exact time and place of Dink’s murder —
chanting the slogan "In the same place, at the same time, for Hrant
and for justice."

Following Dink’s murder, many reports have suggested that the police
were tipped off about the planned assassination more than once prior
to its execution yet failed to prevent it. In addition, links have
emerged among members of the security forces in Trabzon, where the
killing was planned, in Ýstanbul where it was executed and in Ankara,
where the intelligence was gathered, and the masterminds of the murder.

The Dink family accused those security officials of covering up
intelligence on the slaying and asked for their inclusion among
the accused for failing in their duty, concealing evidence and even
seeking to vindicate the murder and the murderer.

The history, political sciences and international relations departments
at Boðazici University will hold a conference at the university on
human rights and freedom of expression in memory of Dink. On the
evening of Jan. 19, an event titled "We Are Commemorating Hrant Dink
with Songs and Movies" will be held at the Lutfi Kýrdar Congress
Hall. On Jan. 20, a commemoration ceremony will be held at Dink’s
grave at the Armenian Balýklý Cemetery at 1 p.m.

Several ceremonies will also be held abroad. Panel discussions,
meetings and exhibitions will be held in Cologne, Berlin, Frankfurt,
Washington, Ottawa and London.

In the meantime, NTV yesterday reported that a report prepared by
the Dink family lawyer and presented to the interior and justice
ministries said, "As long as the public officials who are investigated
[for their involvement in Dink slaying] continue to present evidence on
the murder while they retain their posts, the ambiguities surrounding
the murder cannot be cleared up."

The report was presented by pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party
(DTP) Diyarbakýr deputy Akýn Birdal, a member of the parliamentary
Human Rights Commission.

Delivering a speech in Parliament on the Dink murder on Tuesday,
Birdal criticized the investigation into the Dink slaying for being
far from thorough. He noted that it would be impossible to reach a
conclusion on the murder unless its planning and the aftermath are
investigated as a whole.

According to the report, prior to the slaying all details about
the Dink murder planning process were known in detail. When the
preliminary investigation was launched following the crime, no
connection was sought between the period of planning and the murder,
and the police’s focus remained limited to Pelitli, a district in the
Black Sea port of Trabzon where Dink’s murderer, O.S., was residing.

Hence, the police failed to unearth the organized structure that
planned the murder, the report said.

Responding to Birdal’s remarks, Interior Minister Beþir Atalay said
both the interior and justice ministries were conducting all the
necessary judicial proceedings regarding the murder. "There has not
been anything about the incident that has not been communicated to
the court. If there is anything you suspect has not been transmitted
to the judiciary, please let us know. It is our main duty to do what
needs to be done. It is among the fundamental principles of the police
and gendarmerie to shed light on the incident and for us to provide
clarity and accountability," Atalay said.

Dink was killed by a 17-year-old ultranationalist teenager who
confessed to the murder, citing the reason that Dink insulted
Turkishness.
