Hrant Bagratyan, a former prime minister who now heads the opposition
Freedom party, is not going to take part in the Yerevan municipality
polls.

In a Facebook post, the ex presidential candidate, thanks the Yerevan
residents who supported him in the February 18 election, in the
meantime offering his apologies for not joining the race.

`The city needs serious reforms. I would even say it has to be built
anew. It lacks governance, budget and banks; there’s no proper
election.

In legal terms, Yerevan is a city without a citizen. I look at the
political forces running [for election]. None has a serious text
composed in a couple of lines; just high-flown approaches,’ says the
politician in a Facebook post.

He further asks the Yerevan residents to visit his homepage to get
familiarized with his political and economic clauses intended to
improve the capital city.

A.Rustamyan Does Not Consider The Movement Failed

A.RUSTAMYAN DOES NOT CONSIDER THE MOVEMENT FAILED

Fri, 04/12/2013 – 18:15
News

On April 9 only one inauguration ceremony took place, which was not
attended by the MPs of ARF, and Raffi Hovhannisyan, together with the
citizens gave an oath at the Liberty Square as citizens. On April 12
the head of ARF parliamentary fraction Armen Rustamyan said, adding
that they were among the people.

“What happened in the square, unfortunately, went with the scenario
that was warned by us. We were participating in all those meetings,
we were in the movement, I personally had a speech 3 times, I have
a written announcement, so that it is clear and so that it does not
raise any ambiguity about how ARF sees the growth of the movement
and its development”- the ARF member said.

According to him, AFR mentioned numerous times that we took a wrong
road, we had that wrong road during the history, but we never learnt
from it. “This is what happens when you put the issue the following
way: “everything and now” and form maximalist approach. If we do
not reach those issues, we bring disappointment among the nation
and impoverish the movement. And when you try fast, to reach the
aim on that particular minute, that directs you to more concrete
actions, in some regard, unprepared and this results in coition,
bloody coition, event to victims. We have gone by that road, but both
ways are acceptable for us. According to MP, on April 9 we had an
unclear situation, when 3 groups were formed among the nations. The
first group firmly wanted to reach Baghramyan 26, the second group
accepting the leadership of Raffi Hovhannisyan followed him and the
third group did not know what to do”.

In any event, A. Rustamyan does not consider that “the movement failed
to the extent that it cannot continue”.
